your ligaments go through different phases - mine were really bad early on and I walked like an old woman cos I couldn't lift my legs I just shuffled everywhere and even then I couldn't go far. I'd judge the distance between car and supermarket and then work out if I could get as far as the milk or not and if not I wouldn't go. It did get better though and is now getting worse again as baby is getting bigger. Exercises really did help but most of all don't work through the pain. Take paracetamol if you need to (but then don't do more cos you can't feel it as much) and warmth from a hot water bottle or wheat bag also helps. Whatever anyone says to you about not getting SPD till later ignore them - or just call it pelvic pain! It may or may not be actual SPD (which is that specific joint) but pelvic pain is crippling none the less.

I also found using a corset thing helped a lot - your GP should be able to qrite you a perscription for size K (I think) tubigrip which will help and is more flexible than the corsets which you can't wear when seated and so spend half your time doing odd things in car parks :rotfl:

It's funny the stages you go through. There was the 'chicken smells disgusting' stage, desperate for coke stage, need beef stage

lol, i had all of them!
im now quite settled in the 'fruit is amazing' stage, it smells and tastes incredible and i cant get enough, but to counter balance that i was born into the biscuits, chocolates and milk stage... and thats still going strong 30 years later, :D

as for weight.... *sigh* right, I dont mean to sound ranty but I am a member of a pregnancy forum (and a preggo chat thing) which is mainly american and those girls go on and on about every pound, they really get harrased by their docs and midwives too, its disgusting... but im sick of trying to get my point across so i have given up now and just let them panic
so really... who cares? your body is doing the most stressful thing its ever going to do, its created a life from a bunch of cells, then its going to give birth and then its going to produce the best food possible for the babies first weeks/months (amazing when you really think about what we are capable of)
only after all that is over will i even consider finding out how much i weigh,
i only had a rough idea what i weighed when i got pregnant and i have NO idea now and i honestly couldnt care less,

im not a celebrity, i dont have to appear in my original jeans looking so small its like i have to keep all my internal organs in my handbag on the front of a magazine less than a month later, im a normal person who has just created a life from almost nothing and im going to enjoy the first few months (probably still wearing my maternity jeans) with our new baby and not worrying about calories, points or red/green days.... i have the rest of my life to do that!

it took 9 months to get this big and i have no doubt it should take 9+ to get it down aswell....

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
Afternoon ladies, welcome to the newbies and congratulations to BargainBabe.

I lost 3/4 a stone in the first trimester, having dreadful nausea and sickness. I ended up in hospital with dehydration at 10 weeks, when the doctors finally prescribed Cyclazine (which is perfectly safe in pregnancy). This really helped, although I did still get some nausea each day, if stopped the sickness (which was the worst part for me). I had previously tried all the usual remedies (smell of ginger now makes me sick) including private acupuncture (which actually made me worse).

My pelvic pain started at around 14 weeks, walking would make it worse, but it was bearable. By 28/30 weeks I was in alot of pain. Doc prescribed co-codomol which really helped the pain (just made me sick), this was also suggested by the physios when I got to see them. They gave me a painkiller ladder to show my doctor. I don't have SPD on that joint, its mainly in my right hip and lady bits and as it got worse lower back pain over my hip. Physio has said it is my sacro-illeac joint being out of alignment due to the pregnancy. She was lovely trying lots of technique, gave me lots of exercises, told me to use a heat pack 3 times a day and referred me for hydrotherapy (which is wonderful, just a shame it's only once a week). Get yourself a referral to a physio as you may need to be shown different positions for labour if your pelvis doesn't improve, the physio can show you these.

Well I'm still going, got really impatient last night and am now regretting DH asking the midwife for a prediction as to when baby will arrive. I was quite happy to wait until due date and then start getting impatient because I was OD, but this feeling has now effectively started I 2 weeks earlier. I could still technically not have a baby for 3 and half weeks, which sounds like an eternity. I had dreadful acid last night, which has only just started in the last 3 days so was beginning to wonder if that was the start of labour, but nothing. I've started my cross-stitch baby sampler last night so that is going to keep me occupied until baby does arrive. I've put harry potter into my hospital bag as I couldn't bear to start to start it when DH bought it on Sat in case I finished it before baby arrived. I want to read it while feeding at night to keep me occupied and make it last longer, otherwise I'd have finished it by Tuesday at the latest. :rotfl:

Ok I'm not in the least bit concerned bout getting fat I was just concerned that I wasn't putting on enough weight for the baby to be staying healthy!!
But from what you all seem to be saying it seems kind of average not to put heaps on in the first few months! Thanx for putting my mind at rest!!:p
Everyone is entitled to their opinion

i didnt gain any weight for the first 17 weeks ish really, maybe a couple of pounds. i have now gained 2 stone 4 pounds (im 33weeks) sometimes i think about it but most of time i think at least the babys fine. weighing myself is a habit i find hard to break though - but im gaining around a pound a week which is "the norm" according to the book i have.
dont worry about your weight though if baby is doing well!
most people say to me it is the only time that you can eat "guilt free" although i havent gorged myself on food i have given in to treats when i want them - heck im not drinking alcohol, going on the sunbed, eating prawns, cant have mcdonalds milkshakes, and my clothes are all elasticatd and unfashionable so if i want another piece of birthday cake i will have it! (bday was this week - hubby paid for me a massage my god it was FAB!!)

I just had to drag the scales out after reading these posts! Anyone else have a problem standing straight and trying to read the dial? :rotfl:

Next challenge was converting my start weight from my preg notes from KG's to Stones :o
Anyways, it appears I have put on less than a Stone and I'm 30 weeks  Too much? Too little? Oh well, something else to worry my little pregnancy brain about

CG, I think its to do with not being able to have Mr Whippy type ice cream which is in McShakes.

Talking of Brie and McD's, DH brought me home Mc deep fried mozzarella finger things with tomato and basil dip yesterday....not quite the same but filled my contraband cheese loving gap!
