Hi Emma, my MIL has told me its bad luck to have the pram in the house before the baby is born  and considering she is buying the travel system, car seat and accessory pack, I have to respect her wishes :D;). Also, for some reason, she wanted to wait until I was 30 weeks so she is ordering at the weekend and having it delivered to her house.

Its her last working day so maybe she is busy with baby showers and figuring out how to squeeze all her gifts in the boot :rotfl:

OR, she is busy squeezing something out :rotfl::eek:

yes it is the old wifes tale / superstitious thing not to have the pram in the house - do people still follow that ??
we ordered ours a few weeks ago and it will be ready in store next week. two of our friends had their babies at 35 weeks so hubby is wanting to be organised "just in case"!! also the pram shop is a fair drive away if anything did happen early...

my MIL and FIL paid for our pram system but we arent really talking at the moment so i dont know where it would go - she would blow a fuse if it went to my mum and dads - the argument is that they say we treat them like "second class citizens" and my parents liek royalty (((((((((((sigh)))))))))) how sad does that sound....... dont really know what to say to them tbh...

We had the pram in our house a few weeks before DS was born - I mean, what else are you supposed to do if you don't have parents nearby? Besides, I'm not bothered about superstition. I know even my Mum's generation wouldn't buy any baby stuff until the baby was born or something, but it's hardly sensible these days.

An alternative is if you have a garage or something - then it's not techincally in the house, but you can still play with it. :rotfl:

HI everyone, I thought i would finally introduce myself.

Hubby and I have decided to TTC again, we have had a few miscarriages over the past 3 years, it has not helped that my husband is in the military, so is away a lot training or on deployment. He has just got back from deployment, and will have his leave in just over a week, and yes you guessed it I will be ovulating, (what a stroke of luck, we thought the planets would have to be aligned or something, well that s how it feels, lately trying to be in the same country as of late lol). Not trying to get my hopes up but hopefully it will happen.

which was ok in the days when you were in hospital for a week or so after the birth - now you're not allowed to take baby home from our hosital in anything other than a car seat so you'd have to have that at least beforehand. We've bought our travel system and will pick it up this week at some point (35 weeks) the only reason we haven't collected it sooner is cos we've not had chance.

    best of luck lilmrsmullen :D

Doormouse, i actually have an aunt who basicly told me i was wrong for buying stuff for my baby before she was born and that i may well go into hospital to have her and not come home with a baby at all  that upset me for bloody months the stupid woman! how the heck does buying a pretty baby dress have any affect on my baby other than she had something pretty to wear when she was born :) please anyone ignore people who scare monger like that, its so easy to take it bad when u should be enjoying those small pleasures :)
