God here we go again, a newbie with an 'i know everything' attitude. Not related to Chopper Read are you by any chance?

You DON'T know that they wouldn't because you DON'T know the circumstances. If they thought the driver was careless (no matter how minor the prang), they would of arrested her.

I know of people who have been done for cutting a corner and hitting a traffic sign.

    Not necessarily.

I know somebody who was involved in a rear-end accident clearly his fault. All parties gave statements, he was not arrested and he did leave the scene after recovery. But the CPS did write to him a couple of weeks later saying they believe he is guilty of driving with undue care & attention and offered him a speed awareness course to avoid having to go to court.

So a blanket statement saying she would have been arrested is clearly incorrect.

He shouldn't talk nonsense then. At the end of the day, you can get reported/arrested/charged/detained (however you want to paint it) for careless driving following a minor bump. So your info is also questionable.

Anyway, in the OPs case his wife didn't. So clearly the police decided she wasn't at fault.
Nonsense. I was involved in an accident, no one was arrested or charged at the scene, the other driver was later charged with careless driving. The police will have an opinion at the scene but will consider the accident afterwards and may take further action.

Obviously it depends on the circumstances of which no one here knows 100%.
Despite this you seem very keen to blame the cyclist.

But yes, he needs to inform his insurers but will need the details of the other party (cyclist).

    Question answered. Game over. :easter:

You are obviously the forum bully and out for the new boys dinner money.

But if you are going to argue get your facts right.

You could get arrested for no seatbelt or water in your washer bottle, providing the criteria fits.

You could cause death by dangerous driving and never be arrested yet still be convicted.

Just because someone isn't arrested doesn't mean the police won't prosecute.

The police can pass the details of an RTA to the CPS who will decide on prosecution for a careless driving charge etc, they have 6 months from the date of the accident to make the decision so you may not get arrested but you may be summoned to court if they decide against you.

Careless driving isn't, it's a motoring violation and can get you fined and penalty points. But when careless driving leads to an accident such as above then it's criminal matter - because you physically harmed someone else.

In a hit and run, the whole local squad will come after you and probably tackle you to the ground and end up with 4 bobbies sitting on you while one breaks you shoulder trying to cuff you.

    Just for your information.

Careless driving is a criminal offence right across the board. It only changes to a recordable crime when there is a death involved.

Your second paragraph isn't worthy of comment.

Again, wrong. Careless driving IS a recordable offence if convicted as it carries penalty points. If a death is involved, the charge is causing death by careless driving.

Do you actually know what a recordable crime is?

Upon conviction for careless driving a crime is not recorded.

    More garbage.

Do you know what a recordable offence is? (Rhetorical - as you clearly don't if you think any offence that gets you points is recordable)

You are just causing confusion (to any readers taken in by your authoritative and patronising "you may learn something" manner) by continuing your illinformed "advice".
