i just seen them on the telly, there seems to be no emotion or sadness in his voice no guilt either, it was a very sterile speech imo almost robot like.

Well they are probably on medication to help them cope with the trauma aren't they?

my point is that they should be racked with guilt at the very least after such appaling parenting skills led to there daughter been taken.
im not seeing any of that, all im seeing is a media circus jumping through hoops for them as if there the victims, maddys the victim .

Thats exactly the point I am making.

How could anyone feel comfortable saying those things about 2 people who have lost their daughter?

It actually makes me feel sick. It is inhumane to wish further suffering on someone who is about as low as they could possibly get.

But the point is that they are this low because of their own actions to leave their children alone!!!

The McCanns have hired the International Law Group, a legal firm that specialises in divorce and child abduction. ILG may well feel the need to hire detectives - that's probably what they've done in previous abduction cases they've handled.

....Why would it make you feel better to hear them say that they are wrong? I fail to understand.

I understand it. We've all seen the emotional tear-strewn faces of the guilty making their 'appeals' on tv, followed rapidly by their arrest so clearly not actually genuine appeals, but equally and for different reasons there is also something odd about the McCann's behaviour, in many aspects here. Indeed the whole situation seems odd somehow, and becomes moreso as each day passes without developments.

It's absolutely heartbreaking when you stop and remember that out there somewhere is (potentially I guess you have to say) a little girl all alone and petrified. No-one, including Becket (212) when he thinks about it again would disagree, yet he raises a good point about the world tour (my description) and in stating his belief there's more to this than meets the eye. We all know what he means, and if there isn't a breakthrough soon then I think more and more people will inevitably start to wonder too.

All this 'razzmatazz' is possibly going to backfire on the McCanns, and I've personally never thought any of this will do anything to help find their lost daughter.
That's the job of the police and associated agencies.

I think the McCanns should be at home here in the UK for the sake of their other 2 children, for the sake of their jobs even (they will have to return to work at some point), and right now so that they can be around and get the support of their real friends and family.
The fact they are apprently deriving so much 'comfort' from all the public attention in all it's guises is just something else that makes some of us feel a bit uneasy I think.

    Anyway, we'll see...

....so who says they deserve to get the child back less just because they won't admit to a 'mistake'?

Just as people here don't agree over everything, they may not agree that they made such a mistake, or wish to dwell on that soul searching exercise at the moment. Clearly the focus is on finding Madeleine, which is exactly where it should be.

My guess is that councellors and liaison officers etc are keen to steer them away from self beratement, and for very good reason. There is every point to concentrate the mind on what can be done now and none whatsoever in saying "I told you so, you've been bad parents etc"

Why would it make you feel better to hear them say that they are wrong? I fail to understand.

Its not that they dont deserve their daughter back because they wont admit to thier part in this. Similarly, it wouldnt make ME feel any better to hear them say that they were wrong. This is a big case in the media and to admit the whole story, including their misguided belief that thier kids would be ok being left alone, would at least send the message to everyone that it is not ok to leave children unsupervised.

The media's representation of an issue does unfortunatley have the ability to sway the actions of others, and if accurate reporting were to prevent another similar tragedy then it is worthwhile. Its the silence on the matter that is leaving me to feel that they are being condoned for their behaviour. Similarly, the media interest seems manipulated somehow - as if the parents are coming up with these soundbites in order to allow the media to report something without having to resort to looking at the parents behaviour.

Soundbites such as travelling the world to find her seem a little hollow too - they werent willing to supervise thier children properly but now they would travel anywhere/do anything to get her back? We dont even know exactly how or when she was taken, or even if she has been taken. Seems like they are looking for an abductor to absolve themselves from the responsibility, as if it happened to them rather than they allowed a situation to arise where it did happen.

you have to admire the parents for organising the whole "search thing", a quite remarkable achivement to get the world looking for maddie

and now they are employing a campaign manager, and they have probably got a book deal in the pipeline as well

will they ever work as doctors again?, i can see both of them in the role of that "john nicholls" shot down in iraq chappie,

lets hope they find maddie becuase i can see the direction going very tacky indeed

But why should we donate when thery're are thousands of children dying every day from preventable disease Worldwide? Why should we donate to help a middle class family who made a major mistake?

Another thing that worries me, what's the McCanns contribution to all of this. Their Lawyers / Agents could negotiate Exclusive rights to all future, Press, Book, and Film rights. If the McCanns agreed this would generate several millions of pounds to the Fund. We know they're writing a diary, why can't they come out and say they will make NO financial gain from this sorry saga.I will be extremly annoyed (if) in a couple of years time, we see Kate McCann on GMTV pluggiing her Health and Fitness DVD, whilst her husband appears on Good Morning advising Parents how to deal with bereavement.
