Madeleine's Fund : Leaving No Stone Unturned

They made a massively bad choice when they decided it would be safe to leave the children under the well-documented circumstances. With hindsight, no doubt their choice would be different. To claim to know that they do not regret their decision or recognise any fault is frankly arrogant. They are now coping by being proactive and positive in their desperation to find Madeleine– that it their way – good for them. If they were coping by being negative and submissive – then that would be their way (and apparently some of you would think that they were more worthy of understanding). They have the characters that they have and that framework governs whatever they do – how can they be pilloried for coping in the only way that comes natural to them.
The expressions of venom towards the clearly devastated parents is sad to behold.0 -

i agree with jetcat, the parents should be honest and admit mistakes, its what everyone is thinking when watching them, the media and the mcanns are skirting around or even hiding the circumstances in which she was taken
if a single mother had gone out for a drink, then the media would have publicly flogged her for doing so, the sunday papers would have gone all out attack on any skeletons in her closet, previous relationships etc
they get an easy ride because of who they are, its simply that
i also would like to hear them speak not in an emotional way but just a normal manner, and not as if reading from a script, the support will wain if the media circus of staged mananged interviews, spokesman talking for them, and not one word which sounds like they are speaking their own words or thoughts
the public giving donations is not to be taken for granted, your normal average member of the public looks for reasons not to give first before giving
i think maddies parents will be a negative factor for her in that regard0 -
sorry for going off topic here but i just read that sky news report where they are scrapping a baby snatching storyline in eastenders and corrie for fear of upsetting anyone.
now even our tv companies are walking on eggshells for these people. No Unapproved or Personal links in signatures please - FT30 -
What about the compassion for people who have recently been in a house fire, car crash, domestic violence, rape, dealing with aving a child with down syndorme, being gay/coming out?
ALL of These things are happening daily.:j Baby boy Number 2, arrived 12th April 2009!:j0 -
I am not sure why but this whole thing leaves a bad taste in my mouth...
However, I am sure the parents (and the little one - if she is alive) are going through hell and do sympathise with them even though I do think they made a dreadful mistake.0 -

Yes and all right-thinking people will have compassion for them too – compassion is multi-facetted.0 -

Let's leave the parents out of it.
i dont see why we should leave them out of it, after all they are to blame for all this.
Well it's up to you what you do with your personal time, but I would rather that my personal time and actions were spent helping someone in need rather than throwing blame around (after all there are plenty of people willing to do that so one less won't matter).
I will trust the authorities who have the facts to deal with the parents (if they aren't already) rather than hypothesizing about what's going on from news reports.
I don't think my time is usefully spent posting here as there are plenty of other worthwhile causes that need time and money.0
