I'm a single parent with two young boys. In a couple of weeks I am taking them away on holiday. We haven't had a holiday for 5 years and my dad has kindly paid for this one. I could go on holiday and have a fab time, put my kids in a creche....get a babysitter and go downstairs in the hotel to the bar and have a drink or two.........but I won't, this is a family holiday and sacrifes have to be made when you have children. When the kids are tired and want to go to bed, then we will all go back to the room. I most certainly would not leave then alone whilst I went out for a meal.

I hope you have a great time and I have to say that I would do the same. However the McCanns did not, and now they have a situation. The two aren't necessarily linked, see my post above yours.

The comment you refer to has now been edited out. It wasn't the information that the poster shared with us that infuriated me, it was the way in which he posted. My sentiments remain as they did when I posted. The poster in question succeeds in being particularly inept at sharing their views without being extremely derisary.

I sunk to their level, for which I aplogise.

oh well, it's silly to argue, let's just hope this poor child is found.

Dreadful things are happening to many families but they are not getting financial support .

If it was a fund for all missing children not primarily for Madeline I would consider giving. The fact some of the money raised is going to the McCanns , in the light of the fact that the child was wilfully left alone, I would not give to this particular fund.

I do so hope there is some good news soon.

That comment, in my opinion, is totally out of order.

So tell me what use they are out in the continent spending other peoples money? Sod all. THAT is out of order. these people, while not bad parents because of this, made a BAD mistake. Now they are getting a shedload to stay out there and add NOTHING to the search. Money that could be MUCH better spent in the search.

You think they dont get that?

Edit: sorry, I didnt realise my post made it seem like I was suggesting they were there just as it was a nice climate. I didnt mean that AT ALL! The sunny climate comment was meant as an offhand joke. My apologies to anyone who took it wrong.

That is what I mean by good debate. Whilst I cannot argue with the facts in Para 1, I don't necessarily agree with all the sentiment in Para 2. As I said earlier I am not giving to the fund but not because of the childmiding arrangements they employed. However longforgotten has put her point well and I can relate to it, although I don't fully agree with it.

Maybe this fund will leave a legacy to make sure that some financial support is there for other missing children. I certainly hope so.

One thing the McCanns have done is raised the profile for missing children in general. I don't know if they intended to do it, or if it was a happy accident - probably the latter. However I would very much like to see a rational fall out of this nature from this event.

i cant believe they have set up a limited company, this surely means directors, secretaries being paid.

besides, "no stone unturned", she wont be hiding under a stone more a patio slab, there is no way she is alive now.

Now that was useful.... They really actually meant she was under a stone how clever of you..... and nice to see you know whats happened to her for definate, maybe you should be working for the police because they don't know but you seem to!!!!

This is my last post ever on this thread because it is comments like that, that make me realise you cannot have an intelligent debate its pointless, people are just having a competition on nastiness. Well go ahead to your hearts content because I still believe the majority will out and there are more good and decent positive people out there than there are negative cold ones.

Mae, re. Becket's points above I don't know about #1, - but I guess so.
Re. #2 who knows what the truth is? Not me, not you either, and not Becket.
He's used a well known turn of phrase to express his obviously clear belief though, and the likelihood is he's right. The fact he's somewhat crude in expressing his belief doesn't actually make it any less of an opinion.

Nice vs nasty is irrelevant. Stay if you want to debate the issues on this subject, - there are several aspects well worthy of debate, but simply wanting this child to be found (alive and well) doesn't mean she will be, and you'd do well to keep an open mind as to what may have happened to her too if you do want to contribute. Otherwise bye

Madeleine's dead. Let's face it , she was probably killed within an hour after being abducted. If she was still alive, the amount of reward money would have led to her abducter / Killer i.e. someone would have blown the whistle. It's nice that the Mc Canns have said they're prepared to travel the World to find her (on other peoples money) It's a shame they weren't able to look after her when it counted!
