Guys,
Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Amazon are now using Famac
I've had two deliveries from them recently - both abandoned in the rain, resulting in damaged books.0 -

I ordered books from Amazon the other day and they were delivered by Royal Mail.0

I had a book order which ended up being split into 2 deliveries. One came through Royal Mail (RM/Parcelforce are fine, they leave a note and I can pick up on a Saturday), the other by "Courier" (aka, we'll only deliver when you're at work and won't answer the phone when you try to rearrange delivery) - luckily my neighbours are wonderful and take in parcels for me. Courier part dispatched 1 day earlier than RM, but delivered 3 days after the RM arrived.
But I checked on the Amazon site, and they say that they can't tell you beforehand which method of delivery will be used. Now I think that that would be really handy. Somethign like "Warning - as this book is heavy, it'll go through a courier. If you'd rather a decent delivery service please press here".
Actually - are they more or less likely to use courier if you opt for "SuperSaver"?0 -
As somebody who works for a dreaded courier company I thought I would throw a bit of light. When Famac went belly-up there were literaly thousands of undelivered parcels which had to be re-sent via various delivery methods (- the company I work for got some of them). BUT heres the killer, the courier company has a FIVE WORKING DAY window to deliver these goods from when they arrive in N.I. So if the logistics company that Amazon/Next/etc use take their time getting them to N Ireland, you could have a bit of a wait ....Sarah0

My Wii from Argos was delivered by HDN. Could not fault them on this occassion. Delivery attempt made on release date. They carded. And then they came back the next day which was a Saturday when I was expecting them to try again the following week.0

my new prezzy for my son a xbox 360 was left on doorstep by a man in a white van, saw him from the upstairs window and by the time i got to the door he was gone, i was shocked leaving a £330 item without a sig.
also we had a delivery for a double mattress apparently, my wife phoned the company to ask where is it and they said we had it and they have sig to prove it, so my wife phoned up a number that had already delivered us a small bed and a 90 cm mattress and confirmed that i never signed for a mattress PHEW when the big truck came they got me to sigh before i got goods so this confirmation got me off the hook with the wifey as i had no idea what i signed for lol.
so if you get a double mattress for xmas it's mineWaddle you do eh?0
