Companies who use Famac - Updated 19.06.07

As regards to the update on my last post, Famac did come for the pick up a fortnight ago!!! Really on time weren't they?
Now I think this is really a dig at Littlewoods home shopping but I guess its because we live over here is the main reason this happened.
Out of desperation I had to order a new washing machine before xmas, it was in the presale so that wasn't so bad it had 10 working days delivery but being as the holiday was upon us and we did 'live over here' I added a few extra days to it. Countless emails after this date told me the following
1. Its ready for dispatch and should be with you shortly
2.There's been a problem with dispatch
3. Its been released to the Northern Ireland depot from this date give it 21 days!!!!!
4. There is a problem with dispatch
All in this order, and i'd had got the thing on my statement at this and paying for something that hadn't arrived!
I was giving them until Friday 29th when it arrived the Tues before - 10 working days????
Yeah right!
Thats it i've done with Littlewoods altogether now!0 -
I can't beleave that so many of you have problems with Famac. I've never had any problems! The drivers are always really friendly!0

Who do the deliveries for MFI?
They were useless as well !!!!!0 -
Glad to see this thread...
I have actually sat in my living room and watched a Famac van drive up to my house, walk past the car in the driveway, throw my parcel over the back gate and walk calmly back to the van and drive off....

Can anyone tell me why this post is here? what is it about? So Famac is a big delivery company in NI and they dont seem to be very good at what they do. How does that link with MSE - this is not a complaints boardhappiness is being able to have one more drink0

It's not just about money-saving, it's also about getting value for money, and I think ordering from a company that uses Famac for their deliveries seriously impacts on value for money.
I got married in July and had the wedding list at Next. It's partly Next's fault as they don't do a consolidated delivery of gifts after the wedding as Debenham's does (and partly mine for not checking!), but the gifts came out in dribs and drabs.
As both my wife and I work we were never in when they tried to deliver, so I called up thinking I could arrange for them all to be delivered on the same day, meaning I'd only have to take a half-day off work, only to be told that they don't schedule deliveries, but that they will try to deliver again at some point in the next three days. They don't seem to understand that there is nobody in the huose during the day, so there's no point in even trying to deliver.
Eventually 24 gifts from the wedding list were returned to Next and we are still waiting on them being delivered. And even after 2 months and several phone calls to Next complaining about Famac, they are going to use them to try and deliver the gifts to my parents house instead.
I'm thankful for that list of companies that use Famac as I will not be ordering anything that needs delivered from them, and will also be writing to their customer services departments letting them know how I feel about Famac.0 -

So many people have replied on this thread, myself included to say that they have had to take a day off work to wait on a Famac delivery, only for it not to arrive. If you can save money in the long run by purchasing items elsewhere, then it is a money saving exercise. Hope this clarifies the issue for you.

Another couple of Famac sagas to add to the collection:
Ordered a vacuum cleaner from Tesco On-line. Six weeks later I saw a
Famac card come through my letterbox - actually watched it fall to the
floor - saying they'd tried to deliver but I didn't answer the door.
Um, that would be because there was no knock. Anyway, the card went on
to tell me they'd left the package "in your back porch". Just one
problem: I don't have a back porch. Or a front porch. Or anything
vaguely like a porch. Not even an overhanging roof at the door! I went
out to search, and found the vacuum cleaner (in a box with a picture
of it etc) in the middle of the lawn. In the rain.
Fast-forward a few months - I purchased at Tesco On-line again -
thinking that since the item was so small and light, maybe it wouldn't
be delivered by Famac. No such luck. On a Sunday afternoon six weeks
later, a woman drove up to my house and asked if I was Mrs
B...when I said I was, she handed me a box and said she found it on
her windowsill when she got home on Friday. It was correctly addressed
to me, but had been left at her house, on a street with a different
name, in a different estate, nearly a mile away.
I think we should all show some appreciation for Famac - it must take
some really hard work to be quite as bad as they are!0 -
I wish I had seen this before I did some recent online ordering. Boots.com is just useless because of the delivery service! Had I but known I wouldn't have bothered, I would have just gone to the shop itself. Here's me thinking wouldn't it be handy to just order online and have it in a day or two (as Amazon can do). Only it sat in FAMAC's warehouse for over a week! It took 10 days for to be delivered. That is just insane. I complained to Boots when it had not arrived and they checked back with me to say it should have been delivered at least 3 days earlier. Lo and behold, after they checked I got my package the next day. Funny that.
But silly me, ordered from Babiesrus.co.uk and did not know they too used FAMAC or Business Express which is who I think farms out the Norn Iron packages to FAMAC. If I had known that I would have requested ParcelForce and like another poster been happy to pay extra to ensure that my package arrived in a timely fashion!! Which we should not have to do. Well, one part of the order arrived and the other half neither Babiesrus or FAMAC have any idea where it is!
I enjoy online shopping. I will never however use a company again that uses FAMAC or does not give me the option to choose another more reliable delivery company.
Just as a contrast, after the Babiesrus order was supposed to have been dispatched, we bought something off of Amazon. That was on the Friday. It arrived on Tuesday, via Royal Mail. While we are still waiting for the Babiesrus order. But it shows delivers to Northern Ireland can be done, and done in a timely fashion for a reasonable rate!!0 -

Oh no! I ordered one recently and keep telling my wife - "It'll be here tomorrow...".
Ordered two weeks ago for 3-5 days delivery.
