I love my dmp, it has changed my life and made me learn to budget infact moneysaving has turned out in some ways to be fun gives us something to focus on.
Sorry to go on just feeling realy positive at the minute, hope some of it rubs off on you all
Donna
Don't apologies for feeling positive
I agree that the dmp has made a big difference in my life already and even though things are still a struggle it's now due to lack of car more instead of having too many bills to pay.
I only have 4 direct debits now and everything else is paid as and when I buy it. I used to have about 8 direct debits for minimum payments and more bills every month too, everything was paid by credit card.
Such a difference. Now if only we can sort a bloomin car out!!! :rolleyes:working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -

hi all
Not posted for a while as trying to get head round setting up the dmp - well i contacted cccs initially about the 10th may i sent back all details to them on the 23rd may and my plan is starting this month!! I thought it would have commenced from July but the ball is rolling. Even cccs said this was quick and that i must have sent all correct details to them.(only thanks to the people on these boards giving such great advice. I opened an online bank account in less then a week with a debit/switch card.
I have just about sent details to all creditors some of my payments i have not missed yet but the ones i have have cashed my token payments but charged me £12 late payment charges. (know this is automatic anyway).
I know this is not an easy route to take but i am so glad we have finally done this, and would recommend to anyone feeling down about debt and can not see a way out, it almost broke our marriage and due to this dmp both myself and my husband are communicating more and know what we have to do for the way forward.
well off to try and cut down on my weekly shop now but children are with me so wish me luck (without telling children about the debts etc they are naturally aware of money and do not constantly ask for things.) daughter went to shop yesterday with her own money £1 and came back with something for everyone. Hope she always stays so sweet.
take care all
bye for now.0 -

Hi there,
I've not posted since joining a couple of weeks back and setting up my DMP with CCCS - I've been busy trying to get organised, keep calm and deal with all the letters and phone calls!
We have just paid our first payment to CCCS at the Post Office and I have entered everything into Microsoft Money - feels strange see my current account in the black!! I can see exactly how much I have left to spend now until I get paid on the 15th. It's not much, but we'll just have to manage. I'm also busy Ebaying to try and get a bit extra!!
In my initial post, I said I was scared of getting Defaults - well I've already had my first one! I had a Co-op loan and a Co-op current a/c with a small OD. Next payment was due 7th June, so I'm not even in arrears yet. Default was dated 17th May, so that must have been when they were notified of the DMP.
Both my husband and I have credit cards with the Halifax as well as a current a/c. My husband got 6 automated calls from them yesterday before he was in and able to actually talk to them. Then they just said that everything had been set up with the CCCS and payments from them would be fine! I keep getting called by a real person (3 times yesterday) who claims to know nothing about the DMP and just wants some dosh !! Have heard nothing about the OD.
We have 8(!!) other credit cards in our DMP. 5 of those were on a low fixed interest rate for life of balance which were our feeble attempts to try and tackle our debts. Although we never spent on those cards after the balance transfers, we just spent on our others and were worse off in the long run.
Capital One have already accepted the DMP in writing and will review it in a year. They were on a low rate.
Egg called me and were very nice! Said that 28 days after my next payment due, they'll issue a default then stop all interest. Because we are with CCCS, they'll transfer the debt to their internal recovery department rather than an external DCA. I guess that means they've accepted the DMP although they didn't actually say that?!
MBNA have been offered £88 per month but want £121 to prevent a default - said they'll be in regular contact!! Think that they might have accepted as well because thay said to continue to pay what we can afford.
I haven't heard anything from Tesco yet.
That leaves Barclaycard, LLoyds TSB, Natwest and GE Money (Debenhams Card) that were on fixed low interest rates and I haven't heard anything from these companies apart from some cancelled DD and arrears letters.
Does anyone have any experience with the companies that have not accepted yet?
Also, only one has said anything about stopping interest. Will I still get statements from these credit cards once the DMP starts rolling, because I could see about interest on there couldn't I?
Apologies for the big post - but I've got a big debt!! I feel embarrassed confessing to all these cards, but I'm trying to face up to everything (at long last). I have also updated my signature even though it's not nice to see it all in black and white (or even purple and white!).

Hi Rainbow.
I have experience of GE (Debenhams). They rang me lots as I missed one payment before the DMP. I kept telling them about CCCS and giving my reference and on the third call of the week (they were calling 3 times a day when I was out) the guy said a stop should have been put on the phone calls for so many days.
They wrote and said until they hear from CCCS they won't stop interest. Then they wrote saying they accept payments and will suspend interest for a temporary period. However they conveniently omitted to say how long the "temporary period" will beThey were charging me about 24% APR though!!
So I have found them a bit annoying with phone calls but they replied accepting the DMP about a week after CCCS contacted them with proposals.
I have just made my second payment to CCCS today and they have been great. Any question they will answer quickly (next day if you email).
Wish I'd contacted them sooner
Can't help with the statements - most of my statements arrived this month but they all came before the 25th when CCCS dish out the money (the first payment they would have got from the DMP)They all added interest so presumably those that have said they stopping/changing interest will only do it from after the date of their letter.
My online accounts are still available and so I have been checking these. I am anxiously waiting to see what the interest and charges will be. Have had quite a bit over the last month while arranging the DMP so hopefully it will stop/reduce soon.
Two of my accounts have been merged by the bank and so my interest rate has changed from 17% to 6.5%, so it's a good start. They wrote to me to confirm this.
The other main creditor has been quiet and just issued default notices and not said if they accept or not.working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0
