should I really do that? I will write a letter asking to stop charges and see how that goes, last thing I sent was about my credit report.

The template letter for that is on the national debt helpline website.

Debrag - I would wait to see what comes of that action before sending the other letter but definately consider it after.

Hi Everyone. Just started my DMP this month via CCCS who have been brilliant. Out of eight creditors, two of them, MBNA and Citi Cards, have refused to stop interest. I wrote to them asking for their understanding and that once my situation improved I would immediately, via CCCS pay more, but, to no avail. Has anyone else been in this situation and do I keep writing to them asking the same? Its early days so perhaps this is just early shots across my bows. Great site ...and I'm learning so much from reading through the exchanges. Have a great weekend...Once it starts !!!

It is very early days to get even a couple to stop interest I think some companies like to see if you are serious all mine have stopped now, Lloyds on an overdraft took the longest but I sent them an official complaint letter. I did point out to some of my lenders that people I owe more money to had accepted payments and stopped interest that seemed to work.

Its all of a bit trial and error no set rules even within the same companies different people dealign with cases do things differently.

Well you have to wait the time stated in the letter was it 12 working days plus a week off the top of my head and then there is another letter you send to say they have not supplied the credit agreement. So it is quite a lengthy process you have taken (about a couple of months in total if they never supply one) and if they don't then you have to consider if you want to pay them or not. You still owe the money but it can't be chased in court.

Basically I would see all that process out than start asking them something else as well!

I never asked for my CCA from HFC? just asking about my account & credit file.
  • Hi All,

I thought you might need some inspiration with MBNA. I have been battling with them since I started my DMP in June, 2005 and they have never acknowledged or worked with me on it. They never froze interest and oddly used to credit my payments on my account some 21 days after I had paid.

I wrote to them last year as a formal complaint and also requested default charges back. I received a first payment of £544 in November and I wrote back a couple of weeks ago. Today, i have just opened a letter which apologises for poor customer service along with a further goodwill gesture of £3,100. This almost clears my balance with them and it looks like I will be on track to clear my DMP my March. Heres hoping!

Keep going everyone. It is difficult in the beginning, but I hope I have been able to give you an insight as to whats in store when the fight is almost over. This is a fantastic start to 2008 for me and it can only get better!

    Hi there
    Well!!
I drew out all my wages from Abbey today and paid them into my halifax acct! Just got to cancel my direct debits now and sort them out for my new bank.
Its alot of hassle and gives me a bad headache but I think its gonna be worth it!
My first payment to cccs comes from my new bank acct on 1st March. I have just sent all my letters to my creditors off notifying them of my dmp, and will probably send off token payments of £5 each next wk.
Got to arrange to have my wages to my new bank now too...so much to sort out, and phone calls to make.
Hope everyone else is doing ok!!

    Hi Limana,

We two are doing CCCS in tandem I think!! I sent my letters to my creditors early this week, and have just posted token payments to them as well. Cancelled my DDs yesterday too. Fortunately I didn't have the headache of sorting out a new bank account - I already opened another one last year with no debt attached when I reclaimed my bank charges!
It does feel like a bit of a mountain to climb, but just think of the view when we get to the top!! (How very philosophical!)
