No, it isn't. I am one of the people who have found many of the companies themselves and why should we serve everything on a silver plate, creating more competition for ourselves in a market, where fees are going down because of people who think it's a good idea and tempt the mystery shopping companis to lower the fees more and more.

Apart from that - if people could be bothered to read even the first post of this thread they wouldn't have to ask such questions 50odd pages into it!!!

And yes, it is winding me up again and again when people say they don't have the time or patience or whatever to read all these pages - I didn't even dare to post on the first thread before I read it all ... in case I would have a question which was already answered.

I repeat myself when I say that mystery shopping is a business and hard work and not something to be taken lightly. If you don't have the time or patience to read 50odd pages then MS is not for you.

and if you bothered to read dancingfairys post, you will see she was asking about surveys and not MS - the first post in this thread list all of the good MS companies, why can't we add surveys to that list too?

i'm glad that you have time to read through 50 pages but some of us have real lives.

a list of reputable MS companies AND survey websites on the first page will be beneficial to everyone so none of us get bitten. let's help each other.

Fair enough ... then she was asking about surveys and not MS ... but she still expects someone else to do all the work for her and can't be bothered to read through all the pages herself. I rest my case ....

  • I thought this was a thread about Mystery shopping, not surveys. The 2 are totally different ... arent they???

Hi Tractorgirl - have a look at the thread title, it does mention surveys which is interesting as it has really turned into more of a MS thread!

Surveys are therefore welcome on this thread but I don't suspect there will be many experienced surveyers as there are MSers!

    Welcome Penguin!!

Yep join right in - where (without mentioning the actual company name) are you shopping tomorrow? If it's a burger one for GAP then get ready to enjoy the experience thoroughly when you ask for a receipt and the managers' cabaret starts!

... if we're not willing to share then it defeats the point of the whole forum.

... but in the case of MS? I am not so willing to share, why should I give someone who may be in my area hints as to where the jobs are! Also MS is just that - a MYSTERY. You are supposed to be able to work off your own initiative, and the companies are there if you have any queries. Imagine taking on any other job and not knowing how to do it!
Sharing, yes, everywhere else on the forum, but I am surprised not more people are playing their cards a little closer to their chests on this one.
Right now for family reasons this is the ONLY way I have of earning some cash, so people who don't take it seriously are a slight annoyance :D

Actually you've sparked a thought - when I fancied spreading my bets and looking for more companies to join I just did what everybody does when they want to research something on the net - Google. It took a bit more searching than just the first page but then a bit of effort's no bad thing.

I kind of agree with you on the keeping cards close to your chest thing; at the moment I get calls from a few MS companies each week to get me to do jobs - this is all through putting up with the rubbish jobs for ages and working up a bit of a reputation with them - if I spoonfed someone a ticket into my own area without realising it I would be a bit annoyed!

Not to say I won't give general advice to other MSers and prospective MSers though....

PS: Sara-rara please don't say "some of us have real lives" when talking about MSing and the research needed, it's a bit of a kick in the balls for all of us that have put real effort in to build up their MSing businesses and truthfully a bit sad on your part really!
