I used to be a Pizza Hut assignment junkie. The normal payment for a buffet assignment is £15. However, the buffet for one person costs £5.99 and the drink is about £2.00, which tots up at £8. So if you take your partner, and you both order a buffet and a drink each, it will cost you around £16, and you will get reimbursement of £15. Well that's how it was when I used to do them. You won't get reimbursement for 3 people, unless there is a premium payment. But whatever happens, follow the brief. The people that check your results in the Quality Control department have a knack of cancelling the whole assignment if you make even the slightest of mistakes. And be sure to get the name of the building/road on the left and right as they are making a big hoo haa about it at the moment.

I'm doing a mystery shop tomorrow night at a eaterie in Aberdeen, one of my girlfriends is having her hen night... so i couldn't believe my luck when a big £30 MS came up at the venue on that very night...

I'm not drinking, and have been there many times so i'm sure i can do the mystery shop no problem while still being with my friends and having as good a time. It's not going to be a racous mad drunken type hen night, so I'm sure it'll be okay.

The only stickler will be paying the bill. Y'see the brief says i should get my server name, transaction number and receipt amount. I could get the receipt easily but it will be for hundreds, will that matter as long as it's valid?? or if i pay my own seperately which i could probably manage to do if i went up to servers discreetly after main courses.

Plus we will most likely be splitting the bill 10 ways (9 ways and we will all pay for bride to be) How do i get a normal receipt for my meal only, yet still contribute to the bill for bride to be... ?

How do i pay my own and explain why I'm doing it to others? if they knew i was mystery shopping they wouldn't be discreet! Drink's in wit's out, y'know how it is!!

Oh b*gger, I'm in 2 minds whether to phone grassroots and tell them my predicament, and see how they suggest i work it. If so, they might take it off me, on the other hand i could do with a free night out! Not expecting to spend over £20-£25 really, so including petrol i should break even at worst.
I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....
    (it's part of my charm!)
  • It depends on the job spec I would think.

A table for 10 is likely to have more than 1 person serving it, compared to a table for 2 (or how ever many people the brief states).

All your timings will be all wrong as they will be looking for how long it takes to deliver a meal for however many stated in the brief. 10 meals will take longer to prepare and it will affect timings. Ditto drinks etc.

I don't think you can do the job fairly if you are going as part of a large group.

They probably wouldn't like you being part of such a large group as I doubt that is the scenario they are testing.

I was wondering if anyone had any experience of the optimum contact surveys?
I have just recently been accepted and am struggling to get my head round it all.
  • Optimum contact have some nice jobs so it is worth sticking with them. Practice makes perfect and after a couple of assignments you soon get used to how they work. I always find my named area contact is available and happy to help on the email, so I would say don't be afraid to ask questions and there are always people on here who more often than not have some helpful words too.

Well done on being accepted and good luck with your assignments!

Thanks for this, its not the mystery shopping assignments I have been allocated although I did sign up for them. Its the telephone surveys, any experience of these?

I posted the other day as I had accepted a petrol assignment from a certain poor paying ms website .... today I have had the details through and rather than having to do a ms as thought, its one of their audits! I can't believe they expect an audit done for £15 ... I did one last year and got £25 for it ... not a chance in hell of me doing all that again just for £15!! I have cancelled it and don't care if it affects my ratings, in fact I can't remember when I alst id a job for them as their pay is getting soooo bad    Sorry, rant over, but it really wound me up ;):D
