salesman charging for things he said he would throw in ?

I've learnt an expensive lesson in how to not buy a car
Or how not to sell a car, or anything else come to that.
Rule number one - treat your customers with respect and be civil/polite to them or they can and will just walk away.
The sales team sound like a right bunch of incompetents. You are spending £7000 with them. They should be taking the time to explain the deal and making sure you happily part with your money.
I'm not surprised you're walking away."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -

Nor am I, but there does seem to be many anomolys in the OP s story, so not sure we are getting the full picture0 -
motorguy - I based my post on the 'facts' that the OP had posted at the time. I don't think he had posted about VAT then, and I did round my figures, but was making the point that OP was told stuff was included in a price, then was charged extra. There are massive contradictions here.
Clearly, we're not getting the full picture here, but you're automatically assuming that a Vauxhall main dealer selling a Network Q car is the one who isnt clear on their own figures??
So maybe before drawing conclusions you should wait until you've all the facts?
There sure are. Clearly we're only getting one side, but it would be a very quiet forum if all car dealers behaved properly, and if no customers ever got confused! At the very least, shouldn't the customer be clear on how long they will be paying for?!0 -

I think they've been given various 'options' in terms of deposit and duration of loan - but that seems to have been presented in a confusing or unclear manner.
Again, it may well be valid that these items that the O/P thought were 'free' will appear on the invoice with extra discount to cover the cost of them - but that hasnt been explained to the O/P by the dealer.
I guess neither of us will know unless we saw the paperwork and spoke to the dealer.
Its a shame the O/P is losing out on a car they want (although there is no world shortage of Corsas) as the dealer definitely hasnt behaved as they should have - relative to explaining the paperwork or allaying any fears the O/P has.0 -
Back again.
I went back to the showroom today.
The salesman was't there that I dealt with and someone else spoke to me.
My brother looked over the figures and said they don't add up.
Basically, the sticker price is without vat
I had a written quote of 160 a month for 60 months
And 127 for 60 months
then 155 for 48 months
This person was quite rude and didn't have any customer service skills.
I asked to speak to the manager? He isn't in
And he couldn't deal with the problem
He refused to give me a copy of the document with my signature,
as they hadn't applied for the credit yet!
He said i'll rip this up right now then!
He said I have to put it in writing that I want to cancel.
I still haven't been shown the car. It was on the forecourt.
We walked out and are waiting for a call from the manager about getting my deposit back.
I might have lost my deposit, but I feel they offered me terrible service and as a potential customer, shouldn't they be trying to get your business?
What will they be like if I bought it and had a problem!

You shouldn't lose your deposit, I have done this on a couple of occasions with son and daughter, car was always subject to my inspection and me being totally happy with it, even if it was only that I didn't like the look of it "in the flesh" the one I refused I got my deposit back no problem, did have to wait 2 -3 days for it though as dealer finance office only signed cheques once a week, don't take no for a answer about getting your deposit returned0
