Reclaim Unfair Bank Charges article discussion Part II

Hi everyone,
I've just worked out my charges & Lloyds TSB have had £5114 (exculuding any added interest) worth of illegal charges off over the past 6 years!
I've trimmed my claim to £4,999 to keep it below the £5,000 small claims threshold.
Reading through posts both here & on CAG; It would seem that Lloyds TSB are the only bank that seem to be "dragging their heels" in settling their customers claims against these illegal charges. Am I right in this assumption..Or is it that all the banks are settling claims under £2,000 without much fuss?
Regards
McIavelli (I'm not that devious really)
There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to the way all the banks deal with the claims.
Some people get refunded after a couple of letters some have to go to court ( even for small amounts) however i think that you are right in thinking that Lloyds are one of the hardest nuts to crack, especially for claims over £1000.
I started pursuing Lloyds for a refund of £4714.00+ interest in Feb and its still not settled.

After sending my 2nd letter to Abbey asking for a refund of charges totalling £3,772.54, I recieve a letter from them asking me to wait for a period of 4 weeks while they investigate.
On the very last day of the 4 weeks, I receive another letter asking me to wait another 4 weeks as their research is taking longer than expected.
Do I be patient and carry on waiting or go ahead with the 3rd letter?0 -

It sounds like the stalling tactics that I have read so much about on here - I got a standard letter from HSBC and then nothing for over 4 weeks and so I filed a claim on MCOL and I'm just waiting for a court date now (scary stuff!!)
Why don't you write to them again and give them a shorter deadline and advise you'll claim through the courts if they don't respond?
Good luck!0 -
Claiming from Abbey and awaiting for court date following defence filed and local court allocated nearly 3 weeks ago. AQ not required but paid the £100. Not panicking as determined to see this through, but if I wrote to ABBEY offering them a chance to settle prior to court would this help my case? Not heard anything from Abbey since receipt of defence.0

did your natwest claim include interest
Hi Susan,
No my total didnt include interest, the original amount when I added it all up was just over £5000, so I only claimed up until 12/06 to keep it under the £5000, just incase it went to court.....
I dont know if as the right way to do it, but I had read on here that others had done the same, just in case.....ADOPT DONT SHOP......🐕🐕🐕🐕0 -
