Hi have been through all the letters and the last resort of sending the RBS to court. They had until the 22nd May to respond and they did just that at 10.27 in the morning of the last day!!!! That gave them another 14 days to respond and I was waiting to see what happened. Today I recieved the first ever letter from RBS regarding my claim and offering me the whole amount i was claiming less interest. They have said the chq for £2,670 will be paid into my account if I agree to it, they have stated that they are not accepting any wrong doing and that the charges were fair and transparant. I am not sure what I am going to do as I also think they should pay the £120 i paid out to set up the court action, so will take a couple of days to call them back.
Let me know how you get on and dont give up, they stay silent until the last minute.0 -

On the letter you should have a contact number, phone it tell them you are unhappy about the offer, you may get the lot, but you will definately get more than the 1st offer. The decision is ultimately with you though
Good luck

Its a straight 40 days from date of first letter. I waited over 50 days for Halifax to send my bank statements but kept ringing and in the end asked them to send me a list of default charges instead. They initially said that they didn't receive my letter asking for my statements but if that was the case why did they cash the chq!!! The charges list arrived 2 weeks before the actual statements came!!. Halifax really are slow and completely ignorant.0

Just wanted some advice. I have got to the stage of taking natwest to court for £638.17. I have followed all the letters and phoned them, they said an offer will be sent to me mid june but they have been looking into it since mid april. So I'm biting the bullet and today I filed my online claim rather than waiting for an offer which will probably be quite low looking at what they first offer people.
The 5 days the court takes to service this, is it 5 working days? and then the 14 days they have to respond are they also working? Just want to get the date in my diary to go back to online claim.
regards

Started all this reclaiming back in Feb.... been reading this great website most days without posting so this is my status...
Bank: Barclays
Claimed: £960
Got: £745
After: Only the 2nd letter!!
Banks: Barclays Lloyds & Barclays again
Claiming: Barclays £4210 - Lloyds £ 2719 - Barclays £640
Currently In MoneyClaim On-Line process.
Court Fee: £120 - £120 - £80
They have all 'acknowledged'. They all have until 5th June to 'Defend'. Or I win total (inc court fees) by 'Default'!
Sorry to spell this all out -but I would have found the above interesting to read awhile ago. I DETERMINED to get full amount. If they defend, I will stick it out. Recommend all who read this to carry on.
Will update when I have an outcome! Knowledge is power.

Then that is technical start date for everythiing. So they have a fortnight to 'acknowledge' the claim. If they don't you put in for a judgement by default. If they do you then have another 14 days to wait to see if they put in 'defence' ( which is rarer).
Log on at end of first 14 days from Served day.....
Hope that clear! ( it is really- just my explanation!!)0 -
thanks that makes it clearer to me0

That's interesting as I've just sent off a request to Barclays for £965.00 -- Christ, I'd be bloody delighted to receive over £700.00 after only the second letter!!
I'm fighting HSBC, HALIFAX and BARCLAYCARD all the way - come hell or high water - Be it my last breath!!:D...and on the 5th day, God created Sir Martin Lewis!:A0 -
Sent the first letter to Barclays on April 2nd, didn't receive within the 40 days so called customer services, it took two phonecalls that day to sort it. Apology given and accepted - didn't receive any in the two days that they said it would take so rang again. The statements arrived two days after the 2nd phonecall - great!. The following day received the same set of statements again! They had sent statements from 1999 - 2007 but omitted to send those covering Oct 01 - Oct 04. Called Barclays to request missing statements. Following day received statements that just happened to be exactly the same as the previous two sets and would you believe it the next day I receive the same again!!! I now have 4 sets of 6 year statements all omiting the Oct 01 - Oct 04. I have just made my 4th (possibly 5th!) call to Barclays, pleased to say I remained calm and polite but made it quite clear that if I didn't receive the requested statements within the next 5 working days I would be contacting the Ombudsman. During the last but one call, I was informed that you no longer need to request statements, they will work your charges out and tell you what they owe you. Does that mean that they admit the charges are unfair and will not be taking it to court?0

I have just received my first contact reply fromthe Halifax, as expected it was declined. My claim was £361.00. I will be sending another letter informing them of my intention to proceed through the courts. I also have about £1250.00 of charges from my Halifax Credit Card over the last 6 years, is it the same proceedure for claiming back charges for bank accounts?
Has anyone successfully claimed back all their Credit Card charges? if so did you claim back the reduced charges (£12) which Halifax reduced last year in June or July i think.
I have not yet submitted a claim foe the claim yet but i am al ready to go, can anyone advise me of how to proceed...!
