Hi all, new poster here ...

I reclaimed £468, from firstdirect in May 2007......since then I have incurred newly titled charges, namely Arrangement fees they start at £25 & the bank stared them a few months after I claimed them in 2007 every time i slipped over my overdraft limit .

Can I now reclaim these ?
    Yes absolutely you can.

whats the deal with interest now guys? I've had my claims on hold since the start of the test case in july 2007, shouldnt the interest on £2k over 2.5 years (on top of the interest i've claimed back for the previous six years) be due to me when we finaly win?

No one will know until we have a full resolution of OFT test case issues which will not come next week.

OK thanks. I think i'll write to my MP and see if he'll bring it up in the commons as the banks are looking like they are going to try and draw this out untill some authority eventualy agrees with them or the claimers are all deceased.

That isn't the case so feel free to write to your MP even though he cannot do anything about it.

I bank with First Direct. I wrote to them about a year ago about my charges and was amazed at how much they were - ive since incurred more mind....!?
I havent done anything about it tho as im afraid they'll close my account and as i also have a personal loan with them it all makes me a little nervous. Anyone have any experience??
  • i'm wondering if i can claim against my bank, (lloyds tsb). 2 years ago they closed one of my accounts without my knowledge and claim to have no records of it although i still have my cards with account number and sort code on it. i know their was so many charges on that account which would probably run into £1000's. also when i paid a large sum of money into another lloyds account they took some of it and paid off my lloyds credit card which i was struggling with which also had plenty of charges and is now closed. where do i stand on both the credit card and the closed bank account.

    many thanks

  • Hi , I have just registered. Having looked through my statements for the past years I see that there is a regular "overdraft interest" , "fixed service charge" and "overdraft excess fee". Which one of these can list on my claim to the bank. Many thanks .

"overdraft interest" , Only overdraft interest they have charged on your fees, but the simple answer is no.
"fixed service charge" No this is probably a monthly a/c fee
    "overdraft excess fee". Yes.
  • Thanks for prompt reply. I have statements going back to Jan 2005. Should I ask the bank to give me copy of statements from 2004 to 2005 or from 2001 to 2005. Also can I claim for an account that was closed in 2008? Many thanks. Chris
