  • Hi I think I may be in a slightly different situation. I submitted my claim last July for around 4000 pounds and it must of been near enough the exact same time everything was put on hold. I was gutted. A year on and I would easily have 500 pounds plus in charges since. (100 pounds last month alone ) But the part I'm worried about is I now live in New Zealand (I'm a UK citizen) and they know this so my threats of court etc will not be taken seriously. This year me and my husband entered a no asset procedure here which is a form of bankruptcy. Now my question is can I even though being in a different country claim under hardship and if I can will they accept oversea documents to prove it.
  • O the bank in question is Natwest!!
  • Another thing that has popped into my mind is can I apply via e mail and send attachments of all the documents I may need? To be quite honest I don't wanna send my personal information 16,000 miles and it to become "lost in transit" It's bad enough suffering from fraud on your own doorstep let alone another country!!

I'm sure I seen in another thread that someone done it by email and I really don't wanna have to go look through them all again.

    Thanks in advance!!

Hmmm, this one is interesting since you aren't bankrupt in the UK. Does New Zealand bankruptcy look at overseas debt/assets?
Do you have priority debts in the UK(rent/mortgage., council tax, utilitites)?

  • I just phoned Natwest and the lady I was speaking too was very rude and not at all helpful. I basically wanted to query the charges from last month and ask if I could correspond via email. She basically said not her problem call back tomorrow when the other department is open. I mean in this day and age you would think they'd be open on a !!!!!!! Sunday!!

Does anyone know the direct number to call for Natwest cases?? I know there is one. I can remember being given it.

They're not, any department relating to Financial Hardship refund of bank charges are Monday to Friday.
Is this a financial hardship case? Have you already written to the bank?

  • I just looked through my bank statements and they sent me the statements in may 2007. So I would have written to them in June 2007.(I also thought only cases from july 2007 could be frozen?) I have just added up all my charges to date plus interest and it adds up to a whopping £3077.67. Does anyone know the natwest charges number for overseas people. All I have found is a 0800 number which I can't ring. I will be ringing them tomorrow 8am UK time on the dot lol. I will have all the relevent info to send to them there and then via email. I'm not getting pushed around for another 2 years, I mean a courtesy letter or email wouldn't go a miss to let us know it's still in process!!
