Reclaim Unfair Bank Charges article discussion Part II

I just looked through my bank statements and they sent me the statements in may 2007. So I would have written to them in June 2007.(I also thought only cases from july 2007 could be frozen?) I have just added up all my charges to date plus interest and it adds up to a whopping £3077.67. Does anyone know the natwest charges number for overseas people. All I have found is a 0800 number which I can't ring. I will be ringing them tomorrow 8am UK time on the dot lol. I will have all the relevent info to send to them there and then via email. I'm not getting pushed around for another 2 years, I mean a courtesy letter or email wouldn't go a miss to let us know it's still in process!!

With regards to stayed cases it is the case that they are stayed SINCE July 2007 to present. That means any case that had not received and offer or had not sought to take it to county court would be on hold;0 -
I got in contact with someone today and they were rude to say the least!! Basically wasn't interested in what I had to say and actually told me it's not her job to inform me the status of whats going on. She basically said i should pick up a newspaper or go to several websites. When I went on to query last months charges she said they wont even discuss them!!
I personally think this is a shocking way to treat your customers. Is there anyone else I can talk too. Or am I basically waisting my breath?0 -

Hi everyone. I am looking for advise as this is all new to me.
I understand that charges as of 2007 cannot be appealed, is that correct?
I have returned for holiday to find over £250 charges on my Halifax account due to overdraft abuse and I have been credit blacklisted as a result, all because of the bank holiday.
Can someone internet/bank boffin please advise me as to what I can do or any info I can read which might help?
I DO NOT have £250 to spare!!
Thanks!0 -

I sent this e mail in
Hi,
I made a call into your team today regarding my claim on getting my bank charges repaid to me. I simply asked the lady if she could tell me where the test case was at in regards to our claims. She then told me it's not her job to inform me of such matters and I should basically pick up a newspaper or look it up on the internet. I then went on to state that I would like to claim them back under hardship as I recently was put out of work due to having another baby and I have also been entered into a no asset procedure. I told her I have bills coming out of my ears some of which are threatening court action and that I didn't think 100 pounds for 1 months charges last month was fair and reflected Natwests true costs to me going overdrawn and that I have 3 children to feed. All I can say is that she was less than sympathetic and basically told me I should take legal action against Natwest.
Another thing I wanted to do is update the amount to my charges claim which now stands at £3077.67 including interest. I've attached the relevant forms to this e mail to do this. I'm not sending this information via post 16000 miles.
I'm writing this to you as I don't seem to get any reasonable help over the phone.
As I am currently in New Zealand it's not like I can pop into my local branch to sort this out. I pretty much rely on your phone team to help me. So ifyou can help me out and get back to me on ############ it would be much appreciated.

My friend went into his natwest branch about 2 years ago to complain about being charged £120, they gave him about £70 back but told him they had put a marker next to his account saying they had explained the situation to him and that he couldnt claim again (for back charges or future charges) he feels gutted because they must have took thousands in charges over the years !
is this true ?
also today i have been charged £38 and £35 in overdraft fees by natwest,i am on benefits with three children and i'll be lucky if i can buy food for the week with what i have left and pay for electricity. should i go in the bank and ask for all my money back plus back charges ? should i claim hardship in the bank or send letters ?
thankyou for any help with this

For yourself you need to ask the bank for the money since it was from benefits and you need the money for essential outgoings. They might refund the charges as a gesture of goodwill but otherwise you need to reclaim the charges.0 -
Hey, I've literally just got off the phone to Barlcays and am red with rage - I went away for 2 weeks and when I got back there were 2 letters waiting on my doorstep informing me I had gone overdrawn twice while I was away, incurring a £22 "fee" each time and then another came through the door 2 days later saying I'd done it again. So, in the space of 3 weeks I had racked up a whopping £66 in charges for the luxury of having 3 pieces of paper sent to me.
Now I'm not avoiding blame, miscalculations on my part meant that not enough money was cleared when direct debits came out of my account while I was away but this would be inevitable by scowering my account and each time I only went overdrawn by £50, £50, and £5. I hardly think it warranted being treated like a criminal.
Naturally disgusted by these fees I rang them up and spoke to the complaints department to try to get a justification out of them why I have been raped £66 for having 3 letters sent to me. The guy having the misfortune to deal with me could not justify the charge but he stuck to his guns and did not buckle under the pressure, as expected to be brutually honest though. He admitted being aware of the ongoing Government investigation in to these unacceptable extortionate charges being made by UK banks and claimed that the fee had been dropped as a result of this. Despite several attempts at highlighting this fact and trying to use it to my advantage the lad just reiterated the terms and conditions that I had agreed to. It was going nowhere and I had to admit defeat. For now.
So can anybody please offer me advice on the subject. I'm not sure where I stand. I was lucky enough to reclaim from 2 banks when all this first came to light a few years back so I know it can be done. However, have banks since become aware of this and managed to manipulate the system even more to make these charges justifiable blocking the way we can opt to reclaim?
£66 is out of order and a couple of other times over the last few months would probably take my tally to just over a ton so I would be more than willing to fight these gits.
Thank you , so much:money: - Helping me understand the concept of money ....0 -
