  • Thank you natweststaffmember, just one more thing. Do I write to my branch or do I need to write to a head office or head office department?

If you are claiming financial hardship then you need to complete a form :
    http://www.nationwide.co.uk/contact_us/request_a_leaflet/request_leaflet.htm
the link is above and it is the second from last on the area which says "Payment Difficulties". The form is called "statement of means/Income and expenditure calculator".

  • Once again thank you very much.

They were one of the better ones who explained their processes. I have been working on a number of institutions to build up a list of addresses so that it avoids unnecessary delays. Include any notices of arrears as well(copies not originals).

  • Hi there everyone,

I was wondering if anyone could help/give advixe please. I have tried to reclaim £175 of bank charges to my account from Halifax, although I have been charged much more than this in the past.

When asking for a list of all bank charges, they replied with basically 'whats it for?' and 'nobody has asked us this ever before' and also this was in a huge store in cantral Manchester. They told me there was no such thing as receiving a list of charges, but i could ask for a list of all my bank statements for a fee.

I eventually left and only wrote a letter to Halifax asking to reclaim the most recenbt of my charges. I received the letter of 'the court matter is being battled' (blah blah)

So what do i do now.... just wait? Im 21 and have absolutely no idea when it comes to bank etc..

Any advice greatly appreciated.. Thank you!!

Ask them for a final response and take them to the FOS. Have they outlined the reasons why they do not consider you to be in financial hardship?

Laura, if they ask tell them in a loud voice, I have been advised by the Martin Lewis site moneysavingexpert to reclaim my unfair charges but I require a full list of them. Statements will be fine going back as far as you can provide them(3 years in your case unless they charged you when you were under 18 years old which would be quite nice cos we can get them back very quickly).
    Keep us updated ;)

  • Hi,

    Can anybody help?

Used to bank with The Woolwich but they were taken over by Barclays. Would Barclays still have all my past account information and can I still claim for charges that I paid with The Woolwich?

    Look forward to any help
