    hi all

I need some advice really.....started two claims with Hbos for £550 a piece. First one has come backa nd offered me £133 in charges (charges that have been applied in the last month) which I had not actually tried to reclaim. What do you think the next step is?

    Thanks - I'm a bit lost!

Just pay the tenner but be warned their statements are not easy to work out!!! They sent me duplicates and the charges were not easy to find. Good luck with Shabby!!

In addition to that, they also send out a Summary of Bank Charges which is in a table format. At first I thought OMG how confusing but actually when I got my head around it, its quite simple to understand. Makes a change from the Shabby !!!

Anyway, give them the £10 (begrudgingly) It will be worth it in the long run.
If you see a penny, pick it up, all day long you'll have good luck !!!!!! :D

The £10 is the statutory amount under the Data Protection Act 1998. However, I would insist on ALL my information. I recently did a SAR to NatWest, and i received statements as well as all data held(albeit I had to tell them that I wanted all data rather then statements).

  • Can someone please advise me if you can claim charges for missed payments/returned direct debit payments on car loans etc? Any advice would be appreciated.

yes but then they closed my account without the £15 anyway
  • Hi I'm about to send off a letter claiming back the charges from the last 6 years, however a friend told me that because of the court case, you can claim back six years from the srtart of the court case. Is this true, and if so, from what date can I start claiming
    Thanks in advance

Hey guys, just noticed this on MSE and looks good! I have just finished university and have a student account with HSBC, and since 2006, I have been charged £25 three times, twice for going over my overdraft, and once for a bounced cheque. Is it worth me sending my bank the unlawful letter on the main site. I could really do with that money at the moment having just finished but want to know If I am entitled to it. Many thanks in advance.
Target- clear £1000 student overdraft by Jan 11
Student Loan 19,000 (Starting to pay back December)

I would send the letter but the bank will not pay out until the conclusion of the OFT test case issues.

I have something from the FSA that says yes, and the banks' seem to say no so I am asking for further clarification from them cos at the minute it is ridiculous.
