I would stear clear of this bank account. It could cost you more than the £100 bonus they are offering.I have had my account two years with them now and every month i have been getting charged £5 for not having £500 going into it this made me go over my over draft of £250 by the £5 causing me to be charged £5 per day ..anyway in one year i have been charged £295 just in charges as i have said my overdraft is only £250 but i havnt had the money to pay this off so am paying enough money in to just cover the charges...this month alone was £85 (taking out on 11th may)i don`t have any direct debits coming out from my account .I only opened it in case my bank (abbey) closed my account when i asked for fees to be refunded.
Has anyone else had these high charges on their account as i think they are even more unfairer than the £35 as mine are that for a week not a month.0 -

Last November my girlfriend had received a call from the HBOS stating that she was overdrawn on an old current account she had forgotton about by £90 due to a PC world DD still coming off. She went into her local branch to clear the balance and the lady at the bank stated to her that there was a zero balance on the account and no more charges due!
Recently she has received another call from the bank stating that the account is overdrawn again, asking her to pay £100 to cover past and future charges.
She would like to know where she stands with regards paying this balance, as the DD was stopped, and according to when she went in branch that there were no more charges coming off.
Of course she would like to claim all charges back for this account, though for the moment doesnt want to incur any futher charges though doesnt want to pay what is due as she feels it isnt her fault!
Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.0 -
I have been shafted by Alliance and leicester, i went £3 over my overdraft limit and then all of a sudden i got whacked with £96 charges, i've tried several times to appeal them and each time i've got a standard rejection letter saying we believe the charges are fair.
i dont know what else i can do0 -
Has anyone had the same problem as me. Im a small trader and have a buisness account with hsbc.I know and read in the press and been told by the bank i cannot claim my charges back on this account. However when i log on to the internet banking facility i can only access my account via the personal banking application. My question is are any other contributors been in this situation and what was their expeirience?0

quick question - i have last 3 years bank statements from Abbey, have worked out all the charges, but i know full well i have charges dating back to early 2006, but i dont have the statements for. Abbey want to charge me £10 to get these, but (out of stubborness) i refuse to do so. Is it worth me mentioning something in the letter like "I also am aware of charges in early 2006"??? or should i just begrudgingly pay the tenner to get the statements?!0

The timelimit for responding to our claim expired on 20th May 2009 and the only corespondence we have received so far has been the financial statement form. Does that count as a reply within 14 days and how much time do they now have to consider our claim?0

I have not used my bank account with RBS for 3 years. It is not overdrawn and has a nil balance. I now have £856 which the bank has put in under a hardship reclaim. They have paid it in but will not send me a cheque.
I still have a cheque book so is there anything wrong with popping into my local branch and trying to draw the money out?
Any other advice would be helpful.
