I still have a cheque book so is there anything wrong with popping into my local branch and trying to draw the money out?
Any other advice would be helpful.

Make sure you take additional identification if you don't have a card for the account.0 -

Yep, and I would complete it and send it back in if you are appplying under financial hardship with any evidence of priority debt arrears.0 -
If its the first charge then I think he can providing it is the first charge and he mentions that he made a honest mistake on both accounts. I hope he has contacted the council as well just to make them aware that he used the wrong cheque book to return their money.0

But they don;'t have to refund even 1p of any claim, so even £15 whilst being a small sum is a result. I think you mentioned you went to the Ombudsman so that cost the bank £500 plus no charges for you for 3 months. Again that is still a result. However, the bank is not making the offer in full and final settlement of the claim so that is a start. There are posters on the forum that have received a £0.00 offer so even a small amount is a good thing.0 -

Hi, I posted a little while back as my 21 year old daughter, a student at university but now diagnosed with ME/Chronic Fatigue and currntly classified as disabled student, has got into a pickle with a bank account. She has a NatWest student/graduate account that she uses all the time but she also has a Current account that she used before going to uni.
Unfortunately, she got her cheque books muddled up and wrote a cheque from the current account which had no funds in it. The cheque bounced and the bank charged her for this, therefore making her account overdrawn. Every month since, they have added charges and this now stands at about £135.
My daughter was taken ill in October 2008 and is unable to manage her affairs effectively and also suffers from anxiety as part of the condition as well as the inability to concentrate due to brain fog. I became a named party on her student account but neither of us thought about the current account so I have been unable to discuss any of this with the bank and she is unable to speak to them due to the matter causing stress induced panic attacks.
My local branch advised me to add my name to the account, which has just gone through so I called the Lending Centre today. After much discussion, they have reluctantly offered to settle for her paying half the charges from the money in her student account, even thought this is needed for her living costs and I told them it would cause her hardship. They are pushing us to accept this and tell me that the alternative is to arrange a temporary overdraft that will increase every month as the unpaid charges continue to rise while we endeavour to resolve the issue in writing, but there is no guarantee that we will be offered anything if we go down that route.
It is so frustrating that all these charges resulted from one small error due to her illness and it has resulted in a much larger amount being demanded. What would you advise?
If she accepts this offer, can she still apply to have the rest of the charges waived?

quick question - i have last 3 years bank statements from Abbey, have worked out all the charges, but i know full well i have charges dating back to early 2006, but i dont have the statements for. Abbey want to charge me £10 to get these, but (out of stubborness) i refuse to do so. Is it worth me mentioning something in the letter like "I also am aware of charges in early 2006"??? or should i just begrudgingly pay the tenner to get the statements?!0

hi all
I need some advice really.....started two claims with Hbos for £550 a piece. First one has come backa nd offered me £133 in charges (charges that have been applied in the last month) which I had not actually tried to reclaim. What do you think the next step is?
Thanks - I'm a bit lost!
