hi jester it sounds like your having a time of it i have read loads of success stories with first direct and they seemed to be by far the easiest (i wished i was with them as it was so quick)
seems its not going to well for you though but anyway good luck and hang in there shouldnt be to long before the postie delivers a nice big cheque!!!0 -
Keep your chin up, your time will come and you can post a success story:beer:
When the offer comes don`t be tempted to accept, phone and haggle. They will increase it if you speak to them nicely;) That phone call could be worth thousands.
Good luck

Hi - thanks beckied & slayer98! It seems like I am not alone then by Barclays now suddenly freezing my overdraft with no warning or correspondance then!
I am just a little concerned as I have a couple of cheques to put into my account & hoped that the money once cleared would allow me a bit of money to spend ... if they are taking my overdraft facility off me this might mean that the money just gets eaten up by Barclays reclaiming it, which will leave me with nothing to spend!!!!
I am hoping that by paying my money in that it might sort everything out, similar to what happened to you slayer98! Sounds bizarre you had the overdraft frozen too & then just by paying £100 in, your account was then fine to make payments - fingers crossed mine sorts itself out too - I really can do without them wanting all of my overdraft back now - I had hoped I could clear the o/draft if & when I am successful with getting my bank charges back!
Anyway, goodluck with getting your £2000 back slayer98

It is clear that the people employed by banks are not humanoids.
It is vital that you get yourself another bank account (Not Barclays)The Winner Takes it All0 -
Hi there
Does anybody know where I can find a list of the correct addresses to send the letters to?
Thx.

Hi Beckie,
Yes, they are making me sweat it out. I suspect it is because of the amount I am claiming back. If it was much less then maybe they would have settled quickly. However, in my eyes they owe it to me and I am not about to back down.
Postie is due soon. Maybe I will get a pleasant surprise ? Then again, maybe not !! LOLReclaims in progress:

haha! Yes you are absolutely right about not being humanoids - I wonder myself sometimes too!!
I remember calling barclays to ask them to extend my overdraft by £100 because they charged me £30 for going overdrawn by a few pounds in October last year & as I knew I had a couple of small transactions due to come out of my account I asked them to extend my overdraft so I would not incur 2 more bank charges for the forthcoming transactions from my account ....
The lady replied that 'no - they were unable to extend my overdraft - because I had gone over my overdraft without permission already their system wasn't allowing me to extend my overdraft.' she suggested the best thing to do was to not go over my overdraft anymore to prevent any more charges!!!'
I know this is obviously common sense, but I was unable to prevent it at the time - as I explained it was all their bloomin charges that was putting me further & further over my overdraft limit - needless to say my reply fel on deaf ears ... I may as well have been speaking to a brick wall!!!
I do think I need to look elsewhere for a new bank account - I know it is recommended that a new bank account be set up prior to making a claim, the problem was that as my credit history is not good I struggled to find an account that would allow me to have a debit card, the only one which was available to me at Lloyds for example was a 'basic bank account' (which is bizarre as I have a platinum credit card with them & have always kept that account in order!)0 -
just listened to discusion on radio about charges, it appears that the banks are sending out letters citing the case of mr bewick which he lost to tsb to try and frighten people off claiming.they then interviewed a guy who had just won his case for about 2000 the judge threw the the banks case out because they never turned up. on a lighter note how much dose steven gerard get paid for not being able to shoot with his left foot.thanks.0

I claimed 3600 from Barclays and have received an offer of 2995 which I am on the brink of accepting. However I would like the money paid into a different account as they have suspended facilities on my account. I am overdrawn and the money I am claiming will not cover this. Is there any point asking for it to be paid into a different account.0
