  • thank you NS, you are so right; this money is changing peoples lives.

I have seen on the forum there is at least one member using the money for a course of IVF!!

    It's amazing, thanks again

    Jane
  • amount claimed: £7031.27 (across 2 a/c)
amount recieved into accounts today £6588.85 total!

2 letters, plus 2 offer letters and a stroppy phonecall but we got there in the end!

My husband has recently been diagnosed with Cancer, without this money we would lose our home. Thank you everyone on here and Mr Lewis, I love you!!

Good luck to everyone still fighting,

    Jane

I am sooo happy for you especially under the circumstances, I wish someone would take the banks down a peg or two they seem to be abusing this waiver something chronic. I just read about someone who was laughed at by a halifax employee, thats disgusting, anyway CONGRATULATIONS I hope you and your husband are ok.

judge wilby I have put in an application for removal of stay claiming financial hardship today, but not optimistic on the outcome.
I got Judge Haigh. Barclays say they are not defending now and offered to settle full amount - £1275!

    Well done,

I have managed to get a hearing for a removal of stay, which is next week.

Had Barclays applied for a stay?

    regards
  • Yes. Barclays solicitor met me at Bury Court. They applied for stay. I objected. Judge ordered next court hearing Dec 10th. Got letter from Barclays out of blue yesterday to say I can have full settlement. Hope you get Judge Haigh - he was lovely. It had Judge Duerden on all my court papers so was surprised to get him. He definitely did not think Barclays deserved a stay and made things practically impossible for them.
  • At the moment I am off long-term sick with no prospect of going back to work till at least next March. I need regular intensive hospital treatment at least once a week, and am struggling to manage on about £81 per week through Incapacity Benefit and Income Support.

Yesterday Lloyds TSB took £70 in charges out of my account leaving me with £30 to survive for next two weeks. I have been trying to watch things carefully and two slipped through the net and they bounced them, although they were subsequently paid.

I rang them distressed as I had received no notification of these to be told that it was contained in the statement sent to me on 1st August. I hadn't received this statement.

I tried to reason with them all day and every single person from Call Centre Advisor to Manager to Customer Support Team seems to have been indoctrinated with the mantra "It's Our Money, You're Getting None of It".

Every single person was dispassionate and told me I was wasting my time. Despite the fact I asked for 4 weeks' notice, they still refused. Everyone said they couldn't touch the charges. refund them or move them.

One person offered to look at all my charges and said they would get back to me next week.

None of this is of any help to me and means I either can't go for treatment at hospital, or don't eat or have power or warmth. When I mentioned this to an arrogant woman at my local branch, she told me to go and sort my finances out.

I asked her to try on £81 per week but she declined and became nastier.

I don't like to borrow money and am really upset about all this. I just don't know what to do any more.

I have also spent something like £15 in phone calls trying to sort this out and am getting really down.

Barclays offered me full setlement yesterday - £1275. Told judge I objected to stay as I had been offered verbal settlement. He said he took that very seriously and ordered litigation rep to travel from London to court near Manchester. Barclays say this is not cost effective and gave in.

Was your verbal for the full amount or less. I'm waiting for what the judge said about my case yesterday I know Barclays hadn't sent anything in regarding a stay.

Verbal offer was for full amount. Barclays attended court and applied for a stay which the judge did not give cos of verbal offer.
