February 2007 I got a full payout from First Direct of £1348 (Ssshhh don't tell anyone, it's confidential!)
Yesterday the (Sh)Abbey paid up as well after a brilliant bit of haggling - Abbey:"Hello there...we want to pay you £300 less than you're claiming"
Me:"nope. Give me the lot"
Abbey:"Ok. Here you go".
So I got my full claim of £2900 back from them.
Cheers et al for the advice and support, and anyone who is reading this and doing the claim thing: STICK IT OUT TO THE END, ANDDON@ GIVE IN!!

Can you tell me the number you called to negotiate with Abbey? I have just called them to try and get a bigger settlement than the 65% they are offering me and they have told me I have to write back to them with a counter claim. (Shall I ask for the full amount or just under?)
I don't mind doing this, but if there's a quicker way to do it.....
Also, when I write back with a counterclaim, does anyone know of any appropriate wording I can use?

You'll find template letter No 6 in Martin's article will help with this.0 -
I have a claim at the moment of just under £4,000. Used moneyclaim web site and as you say just at the last moment the bank have put in their defence! Literally the last moment! I had already entered judgement and was then told Barclays had entered a defence. Would it be worth my while do you think writing or phoning the bank and asking if they wanted to settle out of court. Anybody know whether this has worked or should I take it to court? I am prepared to take it all the way and I am just waiting for a date but would just love to settle it once and for all as soon as poss or am I being a whimp??0

Hi
I started the claiming process with HSBC in Feb07 and they are taking it right to the end -no offers or anything. I got a letter from my local court saying the hearing is in OCT 07 - is it normal to take this long?
Thanks0 -
can't seem to find letter number 6! Could you pint me in the right direction?

I wouldn't mind but because they took out £38.00 yesterday without me knowing my mortgage hasn't been met today which means my mortgage company will also charge me £35.00 for a late payment
Do they not care that they are putting a huge strain on ordinary hard working people with young families. This is the second time this year that my mortgage wasn't met because Natwest taking money from my account without letting me know first.
I have a relative who is a bank manager and they are going to the carribean as one of their bonuses in a couple of months. (WHICH DISGUSTS ME) - Now I know who pays for it - WE DO!!!!!!!
Does anyone know if I can claim the £35.00 late payment charges from my Abbey Mortgage company.

Firstly, you should seriously consider getting another bank account. Once set up and you have changed all your standing orders etc, just let Natwest stew in their stupidity. They of course will keep adding charges but then you can claim the lot back.
As it was not Abbey's fault that Natwest bounced the payment, I doubt if you could claim from them. Your comments above are very valid and you should complain to the FSA and OFT about the methods employed by NatWest. If Natwest had any sense, in a situation such as yours they should have applied good customer service and spoken to you giving you a chance to placate the situation. I'm afraid the days of a bank manager providing a good service are long gone, the bank managers of today are simply silent pawns employed to sell other bank products for commissions.
The Chairman of Natwest is Sir Fred Goodwin. Voice your opinions to him and ask him for a breakdown of these charges.

Yes, the RBS own Natwest
Indeed, if anyone dealing with Natwest feels that they are falling on deaf ears ..... complain to the ChairmanThe Winner Takes it All0 -
