How long does abbey usually take to get charges back in your account? We had a letter dated the 15th which said 10 days to put the money back in my account and as yet there is nothing in there.. we did only accept it as a partial repayment (£840 of £4200) I just wondered if this means they will hang on to it until we accept something in full and final settlement?
Anyone any experience of them?
The solicitor dealing with it said Abbey aren't normal in their operations which did amuse me.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

i wonder if someone could help,
i sent first letter of to hsbc to reclaim charges and got usual response ,so i was hoping to push on with claim so i emailed them instead of second letter to say that i just wanted to let them know that i intended to start court proceedings within two days but was giving them chance to pay back charges without court costs on top.
i had email back saying that the bank had been given 8 weeks to resolve the complaint from date of first letter.
what i would like to know is should i carry on as i have said or should i send them second letter and then start court,
many thanks
Have a read of the HSBC thread, you'll find it linked in the Reclaim Help Thread, and you'll find that many users there are giving the HSBC the 8 weeks and getting their claim resolved in that timescale.0 -

Depends if you signed anything when you accepted the bank's offer.0 -
I'm really sorry if this is in the wrong place i'm just unsure on what route to take next.
I sent my first letter to the bank to reclaim charges and they refused, so sent another requesting a partial payment, it has been nearly 3weeks now and I haven't heard anything, on the letter I stated that I wanted to hear something within 14Days otherwise court action will be taken (martins letter)
Should I ring them? Or send another letter????
Can anyone advise me on the best route to take from here.
Thanks0 -

I've never been in a position to reclaim bank charges; simply because I've only had to pay them twice and it's not worth the effort for £60. However, this is not the only way that banks stiff us all - what about the time it takes to clear cheques and deposits? The reasons they present for the delay in putting money into an account are entirely false, as is proven by the fact that banking systems in several other countries do not impose this delay. The fact is, this delay is deliberately contrived so that banks can earn interest while the money is in transit - and I suggest that this is nothing less than THEFT! Money transferred from one account to another belongs either to the person making the deposit or to the recipient. At no point does ownership ever transfer to a bank. But they pocket this interest just the same. I think it's about time that this misappropriation of their customer's money was challenged in a court of law. If it became obligatory for banks to pay interest earned, however small, to the recipient of a deposit, you can bet they transfer funds within 24 hours. How about starting another movement such as the bank charges campaign to pursue this idea Martin?0

Hi
I have a joint account with my husband and won a claim from them back in February. All the correspondence was in my name only.
I have just checked my online statements and we have been charged another £312.00 since we received our claim.
Can we claim these back as well with my husbands name on all letters.
Please Help........0 -

Bank: Nationwide
Amount reclaimed: £8446
Amount Received: Nil
Story: I started this case a couple of months ago, and like most cases the bank said no, so I started court proceedings, Nationwide filled an acknowledgement but did not file a defence, so I asked for a "Judgement by default" thinking that I would automaticly win by default, so you can imagine my suprise this morning when I checked with the moneyclaim website to see how my case was proceeding, only to find it had been Rejected.0
