    Happy Chinese New Year!

As I’ve forgotten to get dinner out the freezer I think the universe is telling me it’s noodle night. Originally I thought it must be a sign that a takeaway is in order but then I’d have no pennies for a coffee tomorrow and so I’ll treat us to some frozen spring rolls and whip up chow mein. Here’s to a well-stocked kitchen and £6 of spring rolls and sticky ribs.

I had some good news yesterday too :) after chasing Tesco for some vouchers that didn’t work and expecting to be told I’d have to wait months for them or worse that they were out of date etc, they called to say that they’d ‘found’ £45 worth of vouchers!:T So Longleat tickets have been ordered for birthday presents and I may treat myself to a new spatula for the kitchen.

Great news about the vouchers. I haven't considered using t3sco vouchers for days out as usually save them for the double up at Christmas. Will look into it though. Just reading your previous posts reminded me how much my children want to go to Legoland and centre parcs!

Hi Cath :) using tesco vouchers for legoland makes it much more affordable, only 12.50 and if you get the sun deal too.....well, we might go again this year if the timings right! How are you and the clan doing?

It's been a rainy day but I saw the crocus, snowdrops and mini iris' in the garden which makes spring and sunnier weather seem so much closer. DH is set on getting himself a crome book and I'm trying to decide whether to a) say if he can spend £200+ on himself then I want to hire someone to mow the lawn or b) say he can get it if he loses a stone and keeps it off ...... boys and their toys ;)

Speaking of spending money we've now decided to get the drafty aluminium windows replaced instead of doing the bathroom this year so the joy of getting quotes is yet to come.

I've started tilly tidying the accounts again which is very satisfying - I'd forgotten!

I'm all wrapped up in bed already getting ready to try and snooze, only 8pm but I fully expect DD to be up most the night as she's full of cold. DH is all prepped to sleep on the sofa having done so last night.

After a tiring day it was lovely that DH came home and just danced for a while with DS, its impossible to be grouchy when you have a 3 year old wriggling their bottom at you! :D

As we didn't leave the house today no pennies have been spent which is unusual for a Monday and I managed to hover upstairs which deserves a round of applause and possibly flowers ;)

Turns out next door can fit windows and so he popped over to give us a quote. DH is worried about using someone we know but upon finding out he did 2 of the back windows is feeling much better about the possibility and the quote of 2300 is less than we expected. Going to get a window company quote too and decide.
As DH expects his August bonus to be around 3000 he's already allocated it as window payment! I worry he's counting chickens etc but we'll be fine either way.

I'm thinking of a challenge for myself, to pay back the £20,000 loan but figuring out a timescale which is achievable without being unrealistic has me scratching my head.....
.......no, not nits, thanx for asking!

DD is a whole year old tomorrow  She is absolutely delightful at the moment, mostly smiles and giggles. :grinheart

I've spent the day tidying and preparing a mountain of food for the christening/birthday tomorrow and am just checking the wine is acceptable ...... hic ...... well, you have to, don't you? ;)

    And so to the challenge:
I need to find at least £350 a month to pay off £20,000 before DD turns 6

Wish me luck and dedication everyone

    Thanks Lucky :)

There's still money in my wallet from last week and I'm working a full week so March would be easy if I didn't know we're off to centre parks soon. :) I'm so looking forward to it! :D

I'm now the proud mother of a christened one year old who was great all day. DH and I worked our socks off keeping a hoard fed and watered while DS was very good sharing his toys with the other children so a good day all round.

    Tilly tidyed £1.34 :)

  • Have just read your diary from start to finish :-)

I am hoping to start making OPs - however they will be tiny lol, lucky if I make £20.00 per month but coming from a DFW background, any overpayment is better than nothing.

Looking forward to reading further about your journey
    Just keep swimming!

Wow Itsa, well done on getting through my diary :T If your like me I always get jealous of those who can regularly OP £100+ a month and here I am about to triple that amount

It just goes to show how much has changed..........although I still think much like I did when I first started MFW the truth is our income has doubled, just like our family and house :p

But as the title portrays, little savings add up! And so I finally dug out a charger from the desk and its now at work after charging my phone all day :)

As I rushed out the house this morning with hair unbrushed and lunch unpacked I'm glad to say that I had enough points for a boots lunch

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
