    Hi SmlSave,

Just wanted to say that I've really enjoyed reading your diary (ok, not all of it! but most) and I'm in a similar position - no mammoth overpayments. Just the 211 a month, and looking to see how I can tot up the smaller pennies to add to the MOP.

Just started my own thread as well! Eek! To keep me on track hopefully.

Good luck and well done so far.

You definitely deserve a wee treat smlsave :) Congratulations on the little girl! :) If we had a girl I would definitely be reusing some of DSs plainer clothes but accessorise them appropriately! eg vests, long sleeve tshirts under dungarees etc. Might as well get the use of them surely! xx

Last week was a non-week as DS’s cold turned into croup and then I fell ill for a miserable 48 hours. Big ahhhhh of sympathy please.

We both recovered to go to a little Halloween party on Friday though and DS ate his own body weight in sugar coming down spectacularly on Saturday when he was a miserable so-n-so all day. We escaped to Tesco’s for a bit and managed to spend £35 :eek:thereby doubling our weekly grocery bill but it was mainly on gaviscon and rennies as I’ve got wonderful pregnancy reflux.

My purse is nice and heavy with loose change so that’s off to the change pot when I get home and there’s veg soup and dumplings for tea. :) DH will be in foul mood as apparently work has not gone his way today and I’ve already been told off for ‘nagging’ him.

I doubt that reminding him to do something that he promised to do over a month ago counts as nagging but still. Am tempted to show him how nagging I can be but will bite my tongue and hope that he goes out tonight to moan at his mates.

Been going through the spread sheets and we’ve just spent so much money this year. Our belts have to tighten or we’ll never make it through next year without accumulating debt.

We’ve got 15months until part 2 fix of our mortgage ends and I’d love to be able to remortgage with 75% equity so I’ve got to find £3000 to be able to do this.

Was going to chat about the budget and our spending to DH tonight but it’ll have to wait until he’s in a better mood.

Fireworks tomorrow night and 5 sleeps until my lazy weekend.

I just read all the way through your diary which I loved. Will be keeping track of your progress.

I am due 2 months ahead of you with my first. I also have an 80% probably it's a girl. I don't really do pink and blue so wasn't worried but everybody keeps giving me second hand pink stuff which is really kind and saving me a ton if money but I'm not sure I will be able to bring myself to dec out my child head to toe in princess pink whatever sex it comes out. :p

Hi lilyp - not to get over political but absolutely agree with you that there is no need to put them in 'gender-specific' colours. If I ever have a child, I think I will tell people it is the opposite gender!
You know originally pink was for boys and blue was for girls?!

Have you thought about buying some dye - and maybe dying some of the plainer clothes - red/purple/orange? It would also give them a new lease of life. Dye can be picked up from Wilkos fairly cheaply as well.

I got an apologetic pat on the back from DH last night and I got to watch a girlie movie with a bowl of cereal :) (after I'd eaten 3 bowls of the veg soup which was luuurvly)

Hi lilyp, nice to meet you :) Help yourself to coffee and biscuits. Well done for getting through my whole diary and congratulations of DD to be :D

Good idea with the dye BlueMoo I may give it a go and turn everything purple :)

Over £1 in change went into the pot yesterday and I will attempt to clear out DH's wallet tonight if I get time. Its home, change and off to the fireworks with a big umbrella. Where we will eat hotdogs and hopefully get a hot drink......maybe I should make a thermos of tea?

I went through all my scraps of paper this morning and found £18 luncheon vouchers and £22 tesco rewards which I will either double or wait till next year and get a mag sub for mum's birthday.

That is such a good idea! Thanks bluemoo :j

I am a bit political about it all to be honest:D. It bothers me more with toys. Why can't girls play with trains and boys with barbies if that's what they want.

Thanks for the welcome smlsave. Looking forward to seeing how you do.

Don't want to take over SmlSave's thread, but YES AGREE!

Yep Dye or Bleach is a great way to jazz clothes up. test it out on some socks (or clothes that you don't mind if they go a little wrong) first, and then you should be good to go. To be honest, modern dyes are so easy to use - you just bung the clothes into the washing machine with the sachets and away you go.

I would recommend buying a quality dye though - like Dylo as the cheaper ones don't seem to give the same depth of colour or last as long.
