79p get I Love Maggie Thatcher to number 1.
Is this to pay for the funeral?'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -
No, its an up yours to all those that chose to buy "wicked witch" instead of topping up their pay-as-you-go electricity meter in their bedsit.
Long time since you topped anything up? 69p doesn't get you very far these days."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

No it isnt considering her contribution to this country. Unions however have never added a single penny of value to the country.0 -

I don't agree with that at all.
Unions were established in the teeth of the fiercest of opposition, and did a great deal to improve (necessarily) health and safety, working conditions, exploitation, pay and help fight individual cases.
The fact that they got over-mighty in the 1970s doesn't mean they've never done any good....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

This gets forgotten.
That which they fought for helped form current employment protection enjoyed by the majority."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

indeed so
It would be very sad if scargill, red robbo and hatton were remembered and none of the original dreamers and fighters.0 -

I don't think that's right, either,
COmpare and contrast employment protection in 1800 and 1970, before EU employment rights got going....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
You seem to have left out mention of the Birmingham pub bombing, Brighton, Warrington, Coventry, London and other relevant things.
If I remember correctly there were 3 massive bombings aimed at London's financial industry.
They cost more than all the bombs in N.Ireland put together.
Call me an old cynic, but that plus the realisation that the green Irish tendency was no longer trying to out breed the imported orange one, helped concentrate minds, and enable a political process to develop.0
