They might have wanted to look at death rates in Bomber Command, Fighter Command or on the beaches on D-Day if they needed to get a grip before striking. We were fighting for survival and industrial production was key. Their sacrifice was no less than that of the troops, but you also need to account that justification in wartime of a strike is tantamount to helping the enemy in times of war IMHO.

They weren't troops of course who are paid to fight....though a lot of the above ground workers went on to enlist. From 1941 onwards the underground workers weren't allowed to enlist whether they wanted to or not.

I didn't say I agreed with striking during a war....just because I know it happened doesn't mean that I think it's ok. I don't think mutinies during wars are ok either, but they happened. Salerno, for instance and Etaples during WW1.

There may be quite a few people who didn't know strikes happened during WW2 - the post was as much to inform as anything else. I think during the war the only winners on the civilian work front were the owners of the industries who made a fortune from the war effort - but that's another story.

My father flew Lancasters during WW2 and my grandfather (maternal) was a miner in Northumberland and paternal grandfather was merchant seaman.

Where has this nasty party carp come from.

She is entitled to her opinion. She is just telling the story as she saw it.

    Has she made it up?

Thought the John Stalker item posted by Ionkontrol on the other thread enlightening.

More nasty Labour types, I don't remember this kind of disgusting behaviour when John Smith died. I don't think we're in Great Britain any more Toto.

If anything at least the great MTs death has meant the turds have broken cover. We can now identify, label, and pursue them along with their renter class comrades.

What makes you think they are renters my guess looking at pictures in press they are kids of rich middle class families

I went to quite a posh Uni and those in the photos look like a type to me. We had a few of them: hard left, barely did a stroke of work, felt others should take the same highly principled stand as them (some were appalled when I took a temping job in a bank paying £5.50/hr), were set to inherit millions age 21/25/30/on parents' death.

Perhaps he hadn't upset so many people?

Always seemed like a genteel bloke to me.

20000 sales in in one night shows two things. 1.) people are making a point 2.) To swing the chart so easily proves how rubbish it now is.
