Goodbye Mrs T, you inspired a generation of working class people to strive forward, take risks and do well for themselves and their family.

She divided the nation in many ugly ways which might result in the end of Great Britain itself however she was a housewife who decided to change the world and did it pretty much exactly the way she wanted and in the fine British spirit of nonconformity, self expression and as an underdog achieving against enormous odd, she did enormously add to the human storybook.

However, I'm with the queen, she should have been more 'one nation' and I do think our unity as a country of nations might not last that much longer because of her.
Proudly voted remain. A global union of countries is the only way to commit global capital to the rule of law.

From your posts I've long thought you were a rancid piece of !!!! and your posts in this thread confirm it.

I love it when a little Tory pr**k gets excited. :)

Anyway, I'm not really left wing at all. I just despise everything that Thatcher stood for: greed, selfishness, little-Englanderness (if there is such a word), pomposity, sanctimoniousness, stubbornness, obstinacy, vindictiveness, etc, etc. I could go on and on.

When Tony Benn dies I will be very sad.

But it won't bother me at all what the right wingers will say in celebration, I'll ignore them.

Not really sure why all the Maggie acolytes are getting so worked up. If you don't like what someone says, just ignore them.

I'm not sure you're right about Benn. At least, I hope not. I'm more centre than right but have never been Old Labour. However, I respect Benn as a man who has tried to live by his convictions even if I've seldom agreed with his politics. I don't think I'd be alone in that.
We don't have to agree with someone's politics (or, at least, we shouldn't have to) in order to respect the fact that it is their strong belief. Politics is rather like religion. We don't all believe in the same things but that doesn't mean one religion, or none, has the monopoly on being 100% right or wrong in all their beliefs.

Yes; if they're spouting bile and hatred then they're on the political left.

I take it you have not bumped into our resident Biggles ;)
'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher

Not to keen on Maggie myself but I suspect that she would not be to concerned that a load of left wingers were celebrating her death if fact i wouldn't be surprised if it amused her.

As Tony Benn is an ex RAF Pilot, I dont know many Conservatives who would ever sully a war veterans name down to something as pathetic as political allegiance. The guy has principles too, something that is rare in today's house.

As for MT, she was a fantastic leader. Lefties need to get over it. Excuses like 'Tony was a thatcherite' are utter nonsense, YOU voted him in power, New Labour was a complete failure and had 12 years to put the supposed "wrongs" right. Except there werent any wrongs, the left completely screwed it up AGAIN and left us with a deficit from hell and a lot of fatter, lazy scum to support.

A really great lady. Ex council tenants have a lot to thank her for. However was never right to sell council houses off hence the reason their is a shortage of social housing stock now. Also the average council tenant was never equipped to cope with home ownership.

    That's a bit condescending isn't it.

Seem to remember lots of jokes when Michael Foot died. Just assume the same will happen when Tony Benn goes.

I respect the right of Thatcher's admirer to mourn and be upset, they should respect my right to be happy.
