@grahamdevon et al Thatcher and the tories under Cameron are not respecting people so why should she have even a shred of respect.
I don't see why I should be sensitive to the fragilities of sensitive tory voters when they have been responsible for letting Cameron and his ilk tear down our social safety net aided and abetted by their right wing media pals.
Tory neoliberalism under cameron and thatcher is a get rich scheme for the elites and the ordinairy man suffers. so no sympathy.#TY[/B] Would be Qaulity MSE Challenge Queen.

She was the elected prime minister, voted in fairly using the country's electoral system. If you want to hate anyone then logically it should be the 40-ish% of the electorate who voted in three successive Tory governments. She simply gave the country what it voted for. People need to deal with that rather than blaming a single politician for supposedly victimising them.
Good to see some utter balderdash from ken livingstone as well - claiming that the country had full employment in 1979 when she took power! Hilarious stuff.
She was voted in mainly because Labour was so incompetent and extreme at the time, and the SDP-Liberal alliance was a bit of a joke - the 'two Davids' were a bit like the two Ronnies.
She did represent a disturbing new change in British society - the development of greed, selfishness and ruthless individualism. The old feeling of social solidarity, present ever since 1945, simply dissipated into nothingness. The age of 'us and them' had begun.
It's a shame that Heath lost in 1974 because he was a far more clear sighted politician than Thatcher.0 -

I have just thought, all those tribute TV programmes 'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0

if you all choose to disagree about her politics, can we all agree that she should be remembered for being part of the team that created soft scoop ice cream?0

A really great lady. Ex council tenants have a lot to thank her for. However was never right to sell council houses off hence the reason their is a shortage of social housing stock now. Also the average council tenant was never equipped to cope with home ownership.0

When Tony Benn dies I will be very sad.
But it won't bother me at all what the right wingers will say in celebration, I'll ignore them.
Not really sure why all the Maggie acolytes are getting so worked up. If you don't like what someone says, just ignore them.0
