Bellicose wars to boost Thatchers' electoral chances just don't suit me. The Argentinians would have given a free plane ride home. Not worth the loss of life.
No words to condemn the Generals then?
But, sadly it is true they were generous with their use of plane rides.0 -

So, the Falkland islanders, because they were few in number. would be below your concern? Minorities aren't worth worrying about?
That sounds like a stance much further to the right than Thatcher ever took.
Thatcher took the stance of an imperialist war for her own benefit. In one way she was the same as Galtierri (check spelling). She saw an opportunity to enhance her own popularity- as did he.
You only engage in wars if you want too.0 -

Another one who attacked the miners.
Presumably you blame Churchill for the loss of all that life in WW2?0 -
Six children die and politicians can use it as an attack on the Welfare State.
A wicked witch who caused untold pain and suffering to communities throughout the country dies and we can't celebrate a wee bit?
Funny old world.0 -

Alternatively, if you are in a position where you are responsible for protecting the people & land under your jurisdiction you might feel obliged to actually protect them.
The Falkland Islands were, & are, as entitled to the protection of the Government as anywhere in the UK - including where you live or, should some mad Junta decide to invade & take over your town should we all just say "Shame, but not worth losing lives over. Let them keep it"?0
