Interesting so we can prove that man can create new life forms albeit so far in primitive beings like bacteria and for mainly wrong reasons or by cloning. You didnt answer my question on this point.
Now with god we cant detect any of his energy or matter even though he allegedly interacts with every thing we do but then I forgot he cant be seen with even the most powerful tellescope and cannot be detected in any shape or form so this of course creates the myth that because it cant be proved that he doesnt exist religion says there is equal chance that he does exist. A very false argument. There is no proof that there is not a totally invisible to all instruments alien spaceship sat on the moon but it is very unlikely. If science was able to produce proof that god exists would religion try to cover it up I dont think so but because all the evidence points the other way faith teaching is put in front of science.
I would rather believe what we do know than some hypothesis brought in as a controlling fuction of the human species

But I do think the reason is to put them on the moral highground above the rest of the "sinners" and to set an example.

Never thought of myself as being 'on the moral highground' - not sure that my congregation have seen me there either! In fact one of my congregation likened me to the V of D once. I just wake up every morning and think - lets get involved with what God is doing today.

I too have a very rewarding job - I mostly end up being a counsellor to my clients about stuff!

So do I and yes counselling is part of hypnotherapy but apart from asking in presesseion what religion someone is I try and avoid it because under hypnosis someone will not breach their moral and religious beliefs even if they are the cause of their problems. It is quite interesting to try and deal with a person who resents being controlled in any way yet wont break away from a controlling belief that is planted by religion

You really are losing the plot now
1) there is no scientific evidence whatsoever fo a god it all relys on blind faith.
2) Hypnosis is a natural state that all normal humans can access it is not a cult Hypnotherapy is a recognised medical treatment. Historically along with alchohol it was the only form of pain relief before chemical anaethesia. Today it is still used where a general anaesthetic cannot be used. The late Jack Gibson performed around 4000 operations without anaesthetic many were filmed. April last year Channel 4 showed a hernia operation on a man using only hypnosis for pain relief. when the operation was finnished he sat up and got of the operating table and walked to the wheel chair.
Hypnosis is the second most effective way of giving up smoking The only method that beats it is to get cancer or a heart attack first.
How on earth can you compare something which you have no proof of, with a scientificaly proven treatment
You have failed to answer my questions for the simple reasons that religion doesnt have answers as to how man can clone other beings as it is not consistent with god doing the creation.Its interesting that religious bodies are against cloning of man, science can do it but it appears people are scared as it might show that god doesnt have any part to play in creation. I notice even Inkie has kept away from that one. Look around you Is chinese bird flu a new disease? Is AIDS a new life form? If so do you believe a loving god created it to kill his own flock? You want to put your faith in someone that sends you cruel crippling diseases leaving people in pain for may years? You actually want to worship and thank this being?
No Im not being inconsistent. It is you struggling to hold on to a faith that has been shot to pieces by science.

Well man can cause mutations in life forms but they strangely only survive if the mutation gives them an advantage as per darwins theory of natural selection ie in the case of chinese bird flu better at survival against antiviral treatments and better at killing the host. The only trouble is this isnt one of mans so do you think it is one of gods? If so he has enough ways of inflicting pain and suffering on man and other life why does he need another?

I dont think man is the greatest intelligence in the world let alone the universe but he is one of the most sucessful on the planet. There are other animals with considderable intelligence and larger brains but not always the ability to use and design tools. as for the universe we may not be alone and any other intelligence may be ahead or behind us. we dont know what is beyond the universe because on thing man struggles with is infinity just the same as no religious person can accept the concept that god if he exists must have been created by someone else before him. Religious people say he has been around since time began but when was that and what was before.

It is good that you keep an open mind and accept their maybe a greater intelligence/ power than man out there.
