  • Merry Christmas everyone!

So, with 3 days to go till Christmas I want to make a plan for 2014.

First thing is first, get rid of this €700 debt... It's no even that much! In January I really need to work hard on getting this done!

Next, begin to start budgeting properly when OH gets paid. He gets paid atm, roughly €3000. Out of this (next month only) there will be €900 taken out for rent. After that, for the rest of the year, rent will only be €150 a month which includes all our bills. Leaving us with a huge amount of spending money, but maybe because we are over here I can never seem to make it last! OH gets a company car and paid for petrol, insurance etc so we also don't have to worry about that.

Third thing, start concrete savings for our wedding. With budgeting etc, I have managed to get it down to whittle our day down to €17k. Which sounds huge, huge, huge but its totally within me and my OH budget! All we have to do is set our mind to it. I'd personally love for it to come in at around €15k but its wishful thinking on my behalf I think! If we manage to save €1450 for 12 months it will be paid off! We aren't getting married until Sept 2015, but I'd like to aim to have the money in the bank by December 2014 and be able to spend 2015 saving for a house deposit/baby fund!

So my idea is, bag as many bargains as I can in 2014. Save and scrimp ever penny together! Being frugal is the aim of the game! I purposely bought our local coupon guide book so I have no excuse to pay full price for any meal/beauty treatment/hotel room stays during the year!

So far I have a sealed jar for loose change, an envelope system for my 'small notes' and an online savings account for any 'big' money that comes in! January is the last month of us paying a large amount for rent as OH had to pay 4 months rent in advance for our apartment which we've been paying back to his work.

We have a gym upstairs so I don't have to pay for that and I'm on a PAYG sim for my phone..

Hey guys, just popping in to say Merry Christmas!

Going to be a fun few days eating leftovers as I've no cash until my OH gets paid and I refuse to take anything out of my debit account! Had a wonderful day yesterday, I had quite a few drinks and stuffed my face but thats me done with the junk food. Onto healthy eating now to get over the indulgence of Christmas!

Placed any leftover change into my savings pot 1 which is beginning to look healthy I think and a few pennies into savings pot 2 as well! Quite happy with myself and a good way to start 2014.

Got lots of dinner leftover for tomoro. Even put the extra bits of mash in a bag in the fridge! Feeling very frugal and happy :D

  • So! My plans for 2015!

Me and OH are very fortunate to live in such a nice area abroad! We are both earning a nice wee wage but I really wanna get on the savings boat.

We are getting married next year and we have nearly enough saved for that, we have about €5k more to go and I'm hoping that by February I will have it paid off!

Then we are gonna save and pay for the honeymoon..

Will post up figures after I regig them on the budget calculator on here, pretty sure I did it wrong! Lol!
