  • Hi KUTAT

I checked my credit report recently - the first time ever. I was split between deciding it didn't matter (I wouldn't want any more credit) to worrying over whether there were nasties on there I didn't know about.

Anyway, eventually I paid £2 to Experian for the statutory report. I'll probably do the same thing later in the year. I was interesting and good to know there were no hidden nasties. It took about a week to get the info.

All the best with your debt busting. You seem to be targeting a couple of lower balances (which is what I'm doing). makesvit easier, doesn't it, than trying to pay off everything at once.
  • Oh my lord, bloomin cream-crackered
I've had the biggest amount of sleep in ages after a stupidly busy week, however I need to sort out my plans for today otherwise I will lose it in a vague mist of 'Escape to the Country' :rotfl:

    Right then, here goes:
    • Do weekly SM shop
    • Teach one lesson
    • Ride my horse
    • Take 2 sets of leaflets to local tack shops - WITHOUT BUYING ANYTHING!
    • List FIVE items on Ebay as free listing weekend
    That is all :)

  • OK I've just scared / focussed myself by completing a snowball calculator...

I will pay off Virgin CC 1st, followed by B/Card, then all extra payments go to my Loan

For May, I will aim at a target of paying £200 extra (above min payments) to CC1 - Target dat April 2016

Apparently if I continue paying min payments as I am doing, it will take me 63 months to clear.... July 2018

  • That snowball calculator can be scary but one thing I've found is that when you overpay on one card, it does go down quickly. I recently looked back at my totals from a couple of years ago and couldn't believe how the balance on my biggest card (as it was then) has changed. :)
  • Good luck KUTAT, I was the same as you pre LBM with regards to shopping. I could spend double what my budget is now in the SMs. I would pick up a new toy or dress along with a few bits and never did a meal plan! Good luck with upping the over payments :)

KUTAT good look with your journey it seems you are focused. It is scary coming to terms with how long debt takes to get rid of, but can be racked up in no time at all. Keep going you will get there.

  • Thank you so much for the encouragement Shinner, DFW321 & GBOT :) It's such an eye opener when you see the hard figures!

The good news is that I'm feeling all positive this morning

    Yesterday's update is as follows:

[STRIKE]Do weekly SM shop[/STRIKE] £5 under budget, which will go to CC1
T[STRIKE]each one lesson[/STRIKE] £25 made, again which will go to CC1
    [STRIKE]Ride my horse[/STRIKE] Done!
[STRIKE]Take 2 sets of leaflets to local tack shops - WITHOUT BUYING ANYTHING![/STRIKE] WooHoo actually did 4 places & didn't buy a thing!!
List FIVE items on Ebay as free listing weekend - Failed!

So all in all, not a bad day!

I'm at work today, and will be working late, so not much opportunity for earning any extra cash. But since I managed to sort out my work lunches last Friday, I should be on for NSDs :) and plan to do the following:
    • Pay in cash (£65) to bank so I can pay to CC1 tomorrw
    • Put ONE item on Ebay
