I had a Panasonic that was rubbish red was more orange and no detail in blacks got it replaced
I'm surprised to hear about your Panasonic experience. I've got 3 Panasonic TVs right now, one LCD and 2 CRTs and they're all superb and by far the best TV brand i've ever had. We've never had a peep out of any of them and the main one's years old.
On the other hand, we've had a couple of Sony TVs that were always playing up.
I wouldn't let your experience put you off Panasonic. IMHO they're the best TV brand around and if it's reviews you're following then they always do favourably in those too.0 -
try ARGOS as of last week ...Philips 26" lcd @£299 its beautiful.0

If you don't want a Freeview box under your non-Freeview wall-mounted TV, you could try one of these. It's a Freeview receiver that is only a little bigger than a normal Scart plug:
Freecom DVB-T (Freeview) SCART Reciever £42.99 (plus delivery which varies depending on where you are and whether there's an offer on etc) from https://www.svp.co.uk
http://svp.co.uk/products-list.php?bid=0&cid=231
If you shop around you can probably get this or something similar for a little less but if you're saving, say, £50 or more between the cost of a Freeview TV and a non-Freeview one, this is worth considering.
Of course, the best type of connection is no connection (ie built-in Freeview rather than an add-on that uses your TV's Scart socket) but that is a different debate.0 -

I could be wrong but if they are bringing out new models soon this could bring prices down further!
OK, i know i'm late joining this thread but i purchased a 40" SAMSUNG SONOMA on Tuesday evening, it arrived this morning! £659, intergrated freeview, contrast ratio 3000:1, 8ms response time, £39 delivery, + FREE % YEAR WARRANTY!
set up earlier, piece of cake - the picture is STAGGERING - best thing is it's branded - no point buying cheap rubbish, you'll be sorely dissappointed!
They also have some unheard of makes there but unbelievably, the response time was 6.5ms!
for all you interested go here www.teleland.co.uk - ok, maybe i could get that tv slightly cheaper elsewhere, but not with a free 5 year warranty. Some of the 5 year warrantys i've seen are terrible prices, £249 + £75 quid for delivery!
check them out!
By the way, the 32" from Aldi is pretty kack, could find no reference to response time so you should be wary. If you can still find them, try the 47" they were selling a few weeks ago - that had terrific spec and a 3 year warranty and wall bracket for free!0 -
AOC manufactures sets for Phillips and Sony so the difference may be less than you think.
FWIW, Freeview will be changing standards before the digital switch is complete, so the current boxes will be out of date, therefore a digital receiver being built in to the tv may not be a great idea.0 -

There is a possibilty that they might ADD another standard (Mpeg 4 for HD) but the current standard is here to stay. Buy with confidence peeps!0 -

Utterly pointless thread in finding the cheapest 32 inch etc, etc.
I just don't get this thread. Sure, we can find the cheapest 32", but it's not worth buying. Because it's c**p. There are some dreadful sets around that have been built down to a price, and represent very poor value for money. They have low specs, poor connectivity, awful sound - etc. etc.
Whilst many budget DVD players, Freeview boxes etc. will meet acceptable standards, the same just does not apply to 32" HDTV LCD.
It is essential to view a product like this against similar sets that are a little more expensive.
I'd dump this thread at once because it leads nowhere. Other than a big let-down.0 -
BUt surely it is useful as a discussion point about 'cheap' LCD's, and 'good value' LCD's.... I got my Sharp 32" 'cheap', it was a good price, not cheaply built.0
