No not having a laugh at all.

Why did you send the kitkat back?
  • They have refunded your money, I am not sure you should expect much more than that. If they were to pay £10 "compensation" to everyone who had bought a KitKat Chunky they might be a bit out of pocket.

I'm sure they wont go bust and should see it as good PR, I bet that they spend quite a lot on their PR don't you?

The difference with my goodwill gesture is that I am not a multinational company and I don't actually rely on customer satisfaction.

And being a multinational company, they can probably manage to survive if they lose one customer who isn't happy with their £2 compensation - which, just to reiterate, does fully compensate you for your losses. 2 x Kit Kats, sent in an envelope you could have reused but wouldn't be expensive new, freepost.

I recieved £4 compensation from Warburtons after sending them an email about dissatisfactory gluten free bread which basically crumbled the moment I touched it. I didn't send it back and I didn't have to send the photos I took of it. £4 just about covered the cost of the loaf (it's expensive stuff!). I considered this sufficient compensation - my wasted money was covered. Should I have asked them for more, based on me having to spend time complaining about it in the first place?

Is this due to the bits of plastic a couple had in them? Frankly, I would just have eaten them more carefully than perhaps you normally do. You have no suggestion that there actually WAS a problem with your KitKats, so really you are due no more than your money back.

Oh yes it was the minimum that they could have done I agree and if they are happy with the minimum and you are happy with the minimum then I suppose that is good enough isn't it.

They recalled them so obviously they expected people not to eat them but to send them back it isn't rocket chemistry is it?

I love it when you get complainers on the phone that say "who is going to pay for my phone call"

Normally food/drink companies are a bit more generous, when they are at fault.

I know with Coca-Cola for instance a couple of people, have had vouchers for 2 or 3, 6 packs of coke, when they have contacted them over an issue with 1 can.

I know someone who also compained to Mcdonalds and got £10 back, without even needing to send anything back.

Personally I think £2 is tight, perhaps 3 or 4 vouchers to be used on a Kit-Kat chunky 4 pack, would be more like it. (Now someone is going to say, in such and such a 4 pack is 50p lol).

You could comment on their Facebook page, if you use Facebook, but be prepared to get some people telling you, that you got suitable recompense.

I'm struggling to understand why you think you deserve more than the minimum.

You've just sent some kitkats back, which as Dukesy pointed out may not even have had plastic in. You haven't choked on a big lump of it prior to a recall being announced. They may not have had anything wrong with them.

They've already done you a favour by warning you not to eat it. You've sent them back (you could have just chucked them in the bin!). They've said "Cheers for not being daft enough to eat these or give them to someone else - here, have a voucher for a few more safe ones". More than sufficient.
