I've started on a duckie for the front of a onesie. I'm running out of aida and we can't get any more until next payday, so my projects are getting smaller!

These are lovely. I love the way the cat is made of cat designs:)
  • Oh I must have had the !!!!piest week ever (not me personally thankfully)

First, friend 1 loses her much wanted baby at 16 weeks pregnant. Then this afternoon I find out friend2 died on Thursday morning. Sucks. big style,

Must be the day for cleaning. I attacked the cupboard of doom with much fervour this morning. Dragged it all out. sorted it. Then I was sidetracked from reducing and repacking with the awful news. it's now strewn across the floor and I just can;t be bothered with it.

Still, I might do some x-stitiching with a cuppa. If that doesn't cheer me up, what will eh xxx

Will be chirpier tomorrow xxx (Glad to see you back Chicky xxx)
How dreadful. Just one awful piece of news like this would be bad enough but 2 on the same day........ Words fail me. Life just isn't fair.

Here are 2 small pics my Mum stitched, I just did the back stitch to finish them off. OMG, just noticed my back stitching on the lady's hat is rubbish, need to tidy it up !!

Mum is 89, she did these a couple of years ago and sadly her eyesight isn't really good enough now - she has turned to Mills & Boon medical romances as her "hobby" now !

(can't seem to post it the right way up, it's OK in photobucket)

Going back to unfinished work - both Mum and I have a drawer full, most of which will never be framed (no wall room) but we so enjoyed stitching them that we really don't mind.

    Happy stitching !

  • TMIF, so sorry to hear about your two pieces of bad news, what a horrid week you have had. I hope next week is better.

Could I ask a queston, those of you who have designed your own charts and use paper, is it normal grid paper? I am thinking about Christmas card's but unlike last year when I used single charts to make one card I want to design it completely from scratch, ie my own design... Or attempt too!

Also looks whats on my to do list now... I daren't order it or I would want to start it.
Sorry I can't help with the designing query. The most I've ever done is add wording to a chart or changed colours. I've used square gridded paper to work out names etc This sort of paper used to come in Filofax (remember them?) and I've still got a couple of sheets I keep for this purpose

Of course I had to follow your link and look at not only what you want to stitch but the rest of the listings. The one you picked is stunning. Quite an eclectic mix. I also liked the other Coca Cola lorry by the bridge, Wind in the Willows, and the Avengers and am very tempted by the gold wedding rings.........
  • Love the finished Mario designs

Have started on my 3rd Bella and boo, this one is coming together very quickly compared to the other 2 as it has very few half stiches. Still don't know what I'm going to do with them when there finished. They will probably just end up in the finished box.

Question time - do you ever just sew things because you like them or do you always sew with a purpose / reason?
    .

I have sewn loads of things just because I like them which is probably why I have a drawer full of projects waiting to be framed or made into cushions etc. I find it difficult to get motivated to stitch if I don't like the design Years ago I used to stitch requested designs. Now if someone asks me to stitch something for them I will show them a selection of appropriate designs eg baby samplers that I would like to stitch. And if that sounds selfish well tough as I am not charging for my time :D
  • WAHOOO Humphry's Corner is finished.............please don't look for all the colour 'unique elements'- there are tooo many to count!!!

    8646834302_9bd20651ca.jpg

it will be banished to my 'finished box' Maria - but am going to see if any of my friends want to give him a home 1st. Yes I thought it was lovely but I hated every minute of stitching it and have no other use for it.

<<hugs>> to TMIF. next week can only get better. xxx

This is so cute. It would look lovely mounted on the front of a photo album as a gift for a new baby.

    Hi ladies.

Maria. I love Bella & Boo, really nice.
I don't think I'll ever not be amazed at how back stitching really brings a design to life, your B&B being a perfect example.

To answer your question.....I stitch for purpose/reason everytime I pick up my needle, because I love it! What other purpose/reason do you need? :D
To answer your question in the way I think you meant it though, all of my stitching is because I like the design. I have only stitched 3 pieces for the reason/purpose of giving as a gift and that's 2 Fairies for my Mums 60th and the Country Companions slide for a cousins LO and even they were designs I liked.

Mrs TM. The Mario themed piece is really good. I especially like the Cat, it's really nice.

Chicky. Welcome back, glad you had a nice holiday. I know what you mean about the "I'm meltingggggg" :D
    Humphrey is cute!

Nmm. The AOY is coming along nicely, very sweet.

TMIF. Sorry to hear of your bad news this week.

EricsMum. Those 2 pieces of your Mums are really nice.

As for me. No stitching done here since Monday as so far my back won't allow it. It's getting better everyday but it's not good enough to bear the weight/tension of the position I sit in to stitch.
Didn't try yesterday though so I might give it a go later.
:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:

I looked and now it's on my 'I want list' too lol Think I might just have £6 to spare too. It would make a great stitch-a-long for next year ;)

Speaking of which did everyone finish their SAL, of the cut-thrus, from was it last year or the year before?
