Please make me finish the stained glass first!
This has been on my wish list since it came out but so far I have been good and resisted temptation - partly because I have more than enough projects planned for this year and I know how long Mirabilia projects take as I have stitched a few over the years. I find the patterns are easy to follow even though they use a lot of colours and the eventual effect is stunning. The Waterlillies threads really bump up the cost but they are beautiful to stitch with.0 -
Emma I would add the stitched patches and perhaps make a feature of the stitching by doing running stitch or blanket stitch in a colour which contrasts with the white or cream background. The felt items look lovely
Maria Beautiful picture and I love the before and after pictures. You can't see features such as the bow in her hair at all before the BS

See that's no help at all is it - you're meant to be trying to dissuade me, not make me want to do it more... :P0 -
maria that looks lovely and the back stitch really brings it to life and adds detailsSPC~12 ot 124

Hope you may all be able to help, as I've said before I'm totally out of touch with prices of materials, threads etc. I've already had a pointer where to get the threads from for my tatty ted advent calendar (thankyou) I'm now looking at where the best place is to buy the Aida. I need 16 count white Aida, 68 x 30cm.
Best I've found so far is a piece of DMC Aida Fat Quarter (?? whatever that means;)) measuring 78 x 49cms for £4.20 plus p and p.
Seems good price to me just wondering what you all thought before I buy!! Also need to source some Aida bands!!
Thought I'd buy gradually then doesn't hit the pocket quite so hard!!0 -
this is a fat 1/4 http://quilting.about.com/od/stepbystepquilting/ss/fat_quarters.htm
£4.20 sounds good to me0 -
Afternoon Ladies,
Goodness me how long was I away?
I go AWOL for a few weeks and you up and move again lol. And I missed WINE?! lol
Hope everyone is doing ok?
I am slowly plodding along with Lilliput lane for my MIL. I am taking my time with it, and it went on hold briefly due to needing to make a dress for my DD for a fancy dress party. But I am now getting back on track.
Right off to catch up on what I have missed.

I was pleased to get home and find Cross Stitcher waiting for me. It was like receiving a big stitchy hug after a hectic stressful day.
The issue is appealing. In particular I like the colour palette designs.
Edited to add - whats with the blank envelope and the enclosed bargain ??!! holiday offer ?
I've caught up with posts but have forgotten who posted what ! the dressmaking design is lovely! I'm impatient so it would be typical of me just to think sod it and buy the bits but the sensible me would be like I'll save my £2 coins until I have enough :T
To answer another post.... I usually buy my material from sew and so. As I love their choice and they are competitive on price compared with other retailers (and cheaper most of the time compared to Willow Fabrics) although willow fabrics do have more unusual fabrics. I often get a bargain on e$ay too - there are some good ebay shops on there!
well tonight I might do some cross stitch although my brain is a bit frazzled. Plan to watch secret eaters at 8pm.0 -
Maria, I love that finished design. The little chicks look ever so cute, I agree with everyone else, the back stitch makes it!0

Hi everyone, how lovely to find this thread on MSF
)
Hope you don't mind but would like to post an appeal to see if anyone has got a copy of Cross Stitch Gold issue 57, or alternatively a chart of Lucie Heaton's Bouncing Baby's ABC? I have the first part, but not the second, and really really want to stitch it for my son's nursery as a present when he leaves in August.
I am of course willing to pay for a copy, and postage costs if necessary. I have been searching on eBay but with no luck so far and really need to get started soon if I am to finish it before the end of summer.
Massive thanks in advance to anyone that can help me.
