I managed to pick up a large selection of back dated WOXS, Cross Stitcher etc at my local Hobbycraft for only £1 per copy so was very happy with that :j
I have also managed to buy a brand new, un-used afgham blanket from fleabay for £6 (including postage) but does anyone have any ideas what I can stitch in the 16 squares it has. The blanket isn't for anything particular, just something I have wanted to do for a while.
Has anyone here stitched an afghan blanket before? if so, what do I do about the back of it - have you lined it, quilted it etc?
my superhero's are on a quilt. my original intention was to use it for all those tiny motif/ projects you see in magazines where you gpo "ohh i love that but why would i stitch it".
I have no idea how I'll finish it off - thats a long time in the future. It's HUGE and a nightmare to stitch on as it's even too big for the lap frame so it's really awkward to hold.mrs-moneypenny wrote: »FOS, i cant believe some of the stuff weve kept up there, i seem to have been clearing out for weeks. i think ive put 10/15 bags of paper/card out every week for the last 2 months, weve taken mirrored wardrobe doors and loads of mdf panels we cant remember what flat pack furniture they were off. packing from things that have long since broken and been thrown away and id got every christmas and birthday card everyone in the family has ever been sent as well as 5 childrens worth of toys and school books. and clothes......my youngest is in his teens and ive got bags of baby clothes and most sizes upwards. The chairty shop love me at the moment as im in every week with loads. cant wait to see what they make from it all when DH gets his next gift aid letter.
trouble is after all these weeks of decluttering it still doesnt look any emptier.
But i'd love to come and have a rummage and help you declutter yours i think someone elses stuff is far more interesting.
EEEEEEEEEEKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKk. makes me glad our loft is DS1's bedroom - we have no-where to stash anything. everything we are (attempting) to sell is either on his top (unused) bunk of his bunk beds or in my wardrobe. I don't even have DS2's baby clothes and he's only 2 :rotfl:loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -
I've been a good girl and been busy cross stitching. I've finished the design for my friend who's moving away and a small wedding sampler for my other friend who's getting married Thursday. Just need to frame them tomorrow now.
Will post photos once they've been framed.0 -

Does anyone have Cross Stitch Collection from September 2011?
I'm looking for the chart for JE's 'Mythical Muse'. There's one on ebay for nearly £12 but I thought I would ask first (would rather pay someone here for the chart instead)
Edit: Got it, very pleased, hoping to stitch it after FGCross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. Thank you
I haven't actually stitched an afghan although I do have one in my stash. The pattern I was planning to stitch on it was from a US magazine (Just Cross Stitch I think) and is designs of various shoes - so designed for an adult (me) not a child.
I have seen a couple stitched and made and they are stunning - real heirloom pieces. My friends who stitched them lined them - they added vilene 640 (pellon) which is ironed to the back of the stitching and then a piece of cotton quilting fabric. Not completely necessary but it does make the finished article very robust and likely to last for years.0 -

That's why I won't go anywhere near car boot sales to get rid of my excess clutter - I know I would end up buying as much as I sold :rotfl:0 -

Not managed much stitching here. The problem I have is I love quilting and sewing and I love xs and tapestry but its trying to fit it all in. I find I neglect cross stitch when Ive got a quilt on the go.
So next week is dedicated to xs.......hopefully
I know exactly what you mean. I resisted getting involved with patchwork and quilting for years because I just don't have enough time for all my hobbies but I gave in and am also a big fan of quilting - do you hand or machine quilt (or both)?0 -
