I've been a good girl and been busy cross stitching. I've finished the design for my friend who's moving away and a small wedding sampler for my other friend who's getting married Thursday. Just need to frame them tomorrow now.
Will post photos once they've been framed.Cross Stitch Cafe Member #59 :j

Hi ladies.
Lindsey. What a lovely idea to attach shells to the mount that were collected by your children! Look forward to seeing the framed piece.
EricsMum. The birthday card is lovely, really like it.
Squishy. Oh no! How annoying and frustrating when that happens! Personally I'd go for the unpick and restitch approach because I wouldn't want to waste what's already been done IYSWIM?
Mags. Nice update, it's coming along great.
Chicky. Nice Dinosaur update.
Mrsmp. re you wanting to get the black finished. I know how you feel! I was like that the other day about white and off white in Santas beard. I have taken a break from it and moved onto pale blue. When I get bored of blue I'll go back to white
Winnie. Lovely cushion.
Louise. Look forward to seeing a progress pic of the FG.
Ailsb. I really hope the stain remover does the trick.
As for me. Been stitching this weekDidn't realise how much I missed it until I started back at it on Monday.

Sorry Ladies, haven't posted for a while but checked in every day.
I managed to pick up a large selection of back dated WOXS, Cross Stitcher etc at my local Hobbycraft for only £1 per copy so was very happy with that :j
I have also managed to buy a brand new, un-used afgham blanket from fleabay for £6 (including postage) but does anyone have any ideas what I can stitch in the 16 squares it has. The blanket isn't for anything particular, just something I have wanted to do for a while.
Has anyone here stitched an afghan blanket before? if so, what do I do about the back of it - have you lined it, quilted it etc?0 -

I've stitched this design twice now.
I found it quite difficult to stitch as it was only 11 count fabric - the holes were so huge compared to what I normally stitch on that the needle kept slipping out of the fabric in the time between letting go with my hand and getting a hold of it on the other side of the fabric. (And don't get me started on how long it took to fray the edges and tie all the knots by hand....oof)
I didn't line it, but I did make sure to use much more thread than normal to anchor the starting and ending stitches. I couldn't use the loop start method as I seem to recall it used 4 strands to cover the thread count.
It washed well, apparently - important for a baby's afghan! Make sure you use good quality, branded threads. The cheaper non branded ones have a tendency for the dye to run if you wash them.0 -

The design is beautiful, that has given me some ideas of what sort of things to look out for :j

When you've finished would you like to come and help me with my 32 years of clutter in the loft ? I haven't even finished the spare room yet and that's only about 9 years of "stuff" :eek:0 -
FOS, i cant believe some of the stuff weve kept up there, i seem to have been clearing out for weeks. i think ive put 10/15 bags of paper/card out every week for the last 2 months, weve taken mirrored wardrobe doors and loads of mdf panels we cant remember what flat pack furniture they were off. packing from things that have long since broken and been thrown away and id got every christmas and birthday card everyone in the family has ever been sent as well as 5 childrens worth of toys and school books. and clothes......my youngest is in his teens and ive got bags of baby clothes and most sizes upwards. The chairty shop love me at the moment as im in every week with loads. cant wait to see what they make from it all when DH gets his next gift aid letter.
trouble is after all these weeks of decluttering it still doesnt look any emptier.
But i'd love to come and have a rummage and help you declutter yours i think someone elses stuff is far more interesting.SPC~12 ot 124

Love the blankets they are really cute.
Not managed much stitching here. The problem I have is I love quilting and sewing and I love xs and tapestry but its trying to fit it all in. I find I neglect cross stitch when Ive got a quilt on the go.
So next week is dedicated to xs.......hopefullyI'm trying so hard to be thrifty, but it doesn't come naturally. You lot are an inspiration!JUST LOVES THE O/S BOARD0 -
Stitching bug is finally back, evening of sewing beckons. Hope everyone is ok
