I have phoned and did not get it due to someone better on the day.

Sorry you didn't get the job. Don't let it put you off looking. :)

What a state it is after over 13 years of regular use of PC I unemployable for a job that involves working doing basic functions with a database and bit of form filling in work. This job should have been more than achieveable for me.

Commiserations on not getting the job. However, it was only one job and it doesn't mean you are unemployable. All it means is that someone else was a better interviewee than you. You need to learn from this rather than thinking this is the end of any sort of working future.

It is a fact of life...in life there will always be someone who is better off than you and someone who is worse off than you.

If you keep up your current attitude, you will never get anywhere.

Do you have RSA, CLAIT or ECDL? that's what employers look for when looking at a CV/Application form for office work.

It looks like my dream of ever working at a university is over.

So I just don't know any more what there is to aim for.

Bit of an over-reaction from one job interview! I'd expect that reaction from someone who's been to 100 interviews!

You need a kick up the bum - have you ever thought of just getting any job rather than sitting at home on your bum. I'm currently doing a job which is not relevant at all to the job i eventually want to do, the only similarity is that its got the word legal in the job title :o I'll keep this job till something better comes along

I have GCSE IT which is equal to CLAIT.

A philosophy degree plus all the school qualifications must qualify me to do something and sure it qualifes me to do basic admin work.

Everyone keeps saying all these jobs but I don't know where they are. Temp agencies are flooded with students and they just don't want anymore at the moment. So where these jobs are I don't know.
