In an ideal world, yep - but not always the case - in our house we literally live week to week till i get another job, so i completely understand why OP was in such a state!

Its hard isn't it? Try buying just one extra item a week. A tin of tomatoes, packet of pasta (value if you have to), pack of mince for the freezer. Put aside an item if you have a bogof deal. If you use one of the reward supermarkets keep the points handy for such a situation.

I recently realised that we would be up the creek if we didn't get paid when expected or the banks system goes down. So this is what I try to do. Not always possible but I try to keep a little cash on me as well.

Op, you have been treated really badly, sometimes you just have to show them you will not take it.

Wondering if this happened to many people as the op had not changed any details and it was all due to a 'new system'?
