You normally have to come of income support when your youngest child is 5.
It will all depend on circumstances. Our youngest is 12 but we still get it because we are carers to our other children whom are disabled.
Maybe OP has similar circumstances or another reason, or maybe her youngest is under 5?
We are also still on the old type of IS so don't get CTC.
I hope you get something sorted OP. Things are getting very tough for many and I am sure you won't be the only one to be posting a similar thing in the future.0 -
The OP has been very patient. I can guarantee you that if I was facing 4 days of panic and worry over whether I could feed by kids, I'd have been having a sit in on Thursday afternoon in the Job Centre and not leaving until the payment was in my account.
I really hope that you get something sorted. Do you have anything that you can sell on gumtree, Facebook page, cash generator? I take it you must have a phone or laptop that you are posting from...could you sell that? Xxx0 -
Can you not apply for a PDL? Then when you get your payment cancel it under the 14 day rule and you won't pay back a penny more?Life is short, smile while you still have teeth

not a good idea for someone on benefit also don't you have to be in employment anywaypink_princess wrote: »Can you not apply for a PDL? Then when you get your payment cancel it under the 14 day rule and you won't pay back a penny more?0 -
Is PDL a payday loan? I am not in employment & aren't they a slippery slope?
Call me naive if you like but when they promised me on Thursday that it'd be in by 5pm Thursday, I believe them. Didn't think they could fail to do it again.
I am just hoping it'll be there first thing Tuesday. You can usually check your account online after about 2am and then know if its there. I'm not sleeping (understandably) so I will know before 8am whether I've got to get into town to sort it (bus fares?). It'll be a goid walk for the kids but will keep them fit. Although they just tell you to ring up to sort it.0 -
I really feel for you after reading all of this, have you no food at all for your children, maybe if you put what area on here you live in, not your address obviously just the area, someone reading this must live close and can maybe help you out with some food, i know i would if i lived nearer, please dont worry, in the past ive been in some desperate situations but things have always turned out alright. I hope someone can come forward and help you.x0

Is selling something an option? I have been in your situation before and sold my laptop on many occasions when I was on benefits. Sell it to cash generator for the most minimum you need (even £20) will get you and kids some food while you are waiting on speaking to IS to sort payment. I can't bare the thought of some poor kids waiting around a job centre all day with no food after a long walk
