I want a hubby to give me a choccie bar and a cuppa. Okay I'll settle for just the chocolate...lol!
I am watching the Great British Sewing Bee. I come from a long line of seamstresses, tailors and milliner's on both sides of my family. My Dad bought me a sewing machine despite neither side of the family actually ever teaching me how to use it...:p..so instead of selling it I might start learning how to use it.
I tried a sewing class but found that since some people were there and had sewn before the class moved to quickly and there were too many people. I need an "idiots guide" type class. I pick things up fast but don't want to walk away confused from a class I pay for.
The machine is a vintage one, many different parts to it and clearly was expensive once. I was going to put it on eBay for £100 plus the £65 case I bought for it but think it might be better to hang on to it....
Other things...MancMan I coulda made you a suit? Could you wear a bin liner stuck together with brown tape though...? (gotta learn to use it)...
Bought !!!!!-cat a laser toy ting to chase...amusing me greatly....“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Hi Kat,
Just wanted to say I'm really sorry your friends have turned out to be !!!!!!. I honestly know exactly where you're coming from in that department, I arranged my friends surprise 30th birthday hired a DJ bought the decorations invited all her friends and family supplied food and as it was any dress I even bought her an outfit for when she got there. This came in at around £200, for my bday she got me a cake shaped as a willy made by her friend! Lol.
I don't knock about with most of my friends now, I don't have any family either so I'm doing it for the team just myself and DD.
So you're not alone, I feel ya. You're doing a tremendous job and definitely making yourself proud!
Also have you tried youtube for vids on sewing? That's where I learnt crochetPAD 2023 Debt total as of Dec 2022 £18,988.63*April £17,711.03

Oh dear... friends issues I know a lot about . I used to have a lot of friends and even more acquaintacies, only 1 best friend at a time, although have had really 2 in my lifetime so far (doubt I would find more). My circumstances and attitudes towards other people have changed with age, time and experience, therefore I am very picky nowadays who I let in my life friendswise... and it's even worse with future boyfriends... got rid of one male friend recently as he was getting on my wig big time. I am not as tolerant as I used to be and don't suffer fools gladly. Life is faaar too short to waste it. So sometime I rather stay at home and watch movie or knit/read the book/go for a walk or do whatever than to spend my precious time with boring people. Been there done that. And no more!
It's sad when you lose a close friend/s or people you used to get on well, but I always look at the present/future times not the past that I cannot change...

Needed milk today so spent when really didn't want to. Also got half price cereal and yellow sticker bread at same time. Apart from that no other spending. Omelette with chorizo, veg, tomato, mushrooms and cheese. Yum. Going to look at the sun £15 summer deals for a cheap summer hols this year, hopefully get there before they all go as some beach time would be great with the little ones.If you want to feel rich, just count the things you have that money cannot buy.0

NSK, would offer to teach you but...
However I can recommend sewing classes for absolute beginners, maybe a get to know your machine. Some are willing to do a one to one shorter class for a little more cash and as you live in London you should check out stitchless tree or stitchless TV - the lady is very energetic and bonkers in really nice way and does videos on the web. She doesn't believe in using pins whereas I love them but she does workshops in john lewis on their kids machines - her point being anyone can do it.
I have a vintage machine with no attachments and adore it - to buy anew one would be exciting but would feel like an affair! I went to a basic class and hadn't done any for ten years, now make gifts all the time and having a go at clothes too...its great!
Thanks for support earlier, still refining my battle plan but feeling braverHappiness is wanting what you have...0 -
Thanks for the comments guys!.. T&J I hear you...gave a boy mate the shove. I find they can't handle the "friends" title and annoy me so best to have none...It's cause I'm so sexy - NOT!... but yes I just spoke to Penny-Pincher Queen Mumsy who was not amused.. told me to leave 'em where they are...at a distance! :T
AP I am going to check out what can be done at home first but seeing as I don't know how to thread the stupid thing I might need a seriously honest beginners class..;-)
Right bed time...“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Oh yes, I did cut the boy short, he got the shock of his life... and he also split up with his lover (long boring story there...I wouldnt bother to waste your time reading it... it actually made me laugh at a time :rotfl:how people can live nowadays and they call it love).
Life has been much better since I learnt how to ditch people and I never looked back. I thought I would feel sad and strangely enough I hadn't... I felt so relieved... meaning the frienship served its purpose and it was over.
I like to spend my time with people who I can learn from or they can learn from me and we enjoy our company. I've always been happy to talk to people regardless their education background as long as they have something decent and inteligent to say...
Bed is calling as another busy day at work is waiting ... ha

Evening/night everyone - can I chuck myself back on the NSK band wagon? Feels like forever since I last posted
Achievements since have included in no particular order:
Freezing my butt off in a caravan in cornwall - there were good bits but by eck it were chilly in the mornings!!
SFD - Hmmmm well least said.... We ate well on hols - had to keep our fat reserves up to keep warm....
Dispatching both children back to school/preschool in a reasonably presentable state :T
Digging out the green house and sowing some seed that ware left.
Sewing another blooming apron for a birthday present.... (all those considering the sewing machine - be warned!!)
Oh and trying to fit a months worth of work hours into two and half weeks with my mother in law coming to stay for the weekend in the middle......
Oh and somehow DD seems to have ended up adding gymnastics to her repetoir - not quite sure how that happened but too tired to argue.
Anyway in short I feel just about beaten this month - going to aim to limit the damage between now and the end and regroup myself in May. Tasks to complete by friday... shop, cook, clean and brace for MIL visit along with caring for 2 kids, DH and when I get some spare time maybe Ill manage some work.....
Kat sorry to hear your hol was not as hoped - and as for the friends debate - best not get me started on that. I have recently learnt that some "friends" exist in their own little world and are only truly happy if you are orbiting them as they wish. If you do this it makes you dizzy and sick so Ive opted out
Anyway time for bed now - love to all.

Morning everyone,
It's a dreich day here - grey, cold and raining. But I'm working from home so no need to use fuel and won't be putting heating on. Tv gets delivered today but we have decided to return it as we have pinched (ooops borrowed) the one from DS1's room. Justification being that he's never here, either at work or at GF house.
Sorry to hear about your friend Kat, after all the effort you put in for her big birthday too. Jonesy - glad your job is going well, and at least you were there nice n early on your first day :-) LAGL - I can sympathise re freezing mornings in a caravan, we were a few hundred miles north of you but bet it was just as cold in Cornwall!
I've updated my signature, doing well with food spends. Slightly over on fuel but have £30 in tank so might not need to top up. SFD's not going so well as I had a work collection to contribute to on Monday and DS3 hurt himself last night so I took him for a happy meal to stem the tears...I had free vouchers for a coffee and apple pie and the cashier didn't ask for them so I can use them again. Have friend's wee boy's 5th birthday so will be buying a gift today and meeting a friend tonight to share a bottle of wine and discuss social plans for when our dear friend from Oz comes to visit.
Sorry to ramble on! Will aim for a SFD tomorrow and at least one at the weekend. Better get clocked in to start work. Hope you all have a good day.
