    Hi

I must sound like a misery but.........are you sure this is a permant job? Bt for example have loads of temps but they are all told its temp to perm but the perm never happens.

If you will be employed directly by the NHS and have a contract from them then great jump at it.

    Well done on the offer.

Rode to work today ... 80 minutes, very easy. I need to get started early to make up the hours, so I put together a lot of stuff last night.

The test will be this afternoon, to see if I can get back by 6pm. Box Hill takes 3 minutes to descend, but climbing back up takes about 8 for me, and I've never done it with a full rucksack.

Brought breakfast with me, a mix of Sainsbury's basic muesli and the oat crunch stuff (orange bag). Not to mention sandwiches and fruit. I can always nip to the high street to get more fruit and veg but since we split the big weekend shop it makes more sense to bring it all with me from home.

I hope that I'll have time to respond to you all soon!

Nearly forgot. Friday was a good day, not only for employment, but I got my Barclaycard through the post! I can start building my credit history without getting the citizenship to put me on the electoral roll. Now I can save towards it again with one less worry.

And I got notice that my USA Bachelor's degree is equivalent to a UK Bachelor's.

Good news all round then B.W. It's high time that you had some! Let's hope this is the start and you are really 'on the up' (not just up Box Hill:rotfl: )

With that one credit card, the smart search on Moneysupermarket already has upgraded my credit profile to GOOD. Meaning that I'm going to apply to Egg (or similar, thinking of SBT cards) in a couple of months after the waves from my Barclaycard go down. Then pay small bits with that until I can SBT the student loan amount to a third card at 4.9%ish - I would be in the ballpark of the M&S More card.

    Back to work.

Bike ride home, 81 minutes. Was early to the childminder's. Under 9 minutes going up Box Hill.

Drive in this morning was awful. I don't know how people drive to work - completely horrid. It took me 74 minutes, only 6 minutes less than cycling yesterday, and I'm thinking of all the petrol I wasted sitting in queues all morning, all the near misses and potholes I couldn't avoid.

One thing that the agent said to me as I was turning down the other job - "I'm getting loads of people coming here looking for work that have come out of the NHS" - keeps echoing through my head. And technically I still am not employed by them. I wish I could shut off my hindsight, which is whirring at the moment, saying the money was better and the job more predictable in Covent Garden.

This job isn't too bad, but it's a bit empty at the moment, not much is going on. At the same time I've got the feeling I need to be busy. The manager is busy throwing ideas of what I can do and is always looking for my feedback and input.

I've got a really bad feeling in the pit of my stomach that I screwed up. Again.

Oh Foxy don't beat yourself up!!!!! It's really early days! It always takes time to settle in to a new job and work out what you can do and where it can go.

And I'd always take what an agent says with a pinch of salt! ;)

    Big hugs.
