Just read through whole thread. So sorry for what has happened.
I am a complete !!!!! and caused my darling husband the pain that you have been caused two and a half years ago.
In all honesty my head was turned by someone young and single who wanted me and dull old family life seemed boring. The excitement and the sneaking around was intoxicating.
After a couple of months i couldnt live with the guilt so i ended it and told my husband. Like you he was devastated and forgave me.
At first I admit I was going through the motions but knew deep down i loved him and i desperately wanted it to work.
I talked to my friends about my feelings, we talked to each other. We did family things and things alone.
I can honestly say that it has been a long hard slog but at last we are getting somewhere. We are talking about holidays a couple of years in the future and also about our retirement in ten years time ( at fifty - we are not that old!!!)
More than that I love him dearly and the spark is back. I fancy the pants off him - when I have the energy and I would be priviliged to spend the rest of my life with him and our wonderful ( boring - never ) family.
Hang in there. Take it real slow. Dont expect miracles. Gradual progress until one day you wake up and realise you know what this is great. Good luck to you both.0 -
Just thought I'd drop in to see how you are, southwester.
It's a few days since we heard from you and I'm taking that as a very positive sign that things are going well for you and the family.
Take care

Hi
Thanks for the post, affordmylife, very comforting to me, seems a long way off at the moment though what you are describing there.
Imp - Ive been away, things are up and down, unfortunately not literally!!
Big test coming up in August, she has to go away with a male colleague to newcastle for a course, who I know, other staff coming from all over the country, she is still feeling incredible guilt and has promised me that it will never happen again. I have to trust her and believe her otherwise there is no hope, wont be east though I know that.
Still getting those bloody images and feel sick to the stomach when I do, although they are not as frequent but hurt just as much as when I first found out.
If anybody was to ask me at the moment if it was going to work, I think it would be a NO, as I cant do anymore, it is now in her court to want me22/07/07 Debt - Tesco 17644 (6.1%) - Now 10500

Hi Babe.
Just popped into see how your getting on.
I think leaving it up to her is a good thing. It took me a long time to realise that my split with my Ex wasn't my fault. He could have fought for me but didn't and that told me everything I needed to know.
Hopefully, once she has been away with work and nothing happens you'll be able to trust her a little bit more. Step by step, she needs to show you how much you mean to her and that she is willing to fight for you.
But from your last comment, I would really think about where things are going. As there is no point going through all this if you convince yourself it is not going to work.
Hang in there and hopefully everything will clear and you will know what you need to do. I went with my instincts, what every pore of my body told me to do, for a long time I wondered if I had done the wrong thing. But 3 yrs on.... I made the best decision I could have done.

Hi SW
Not much to add, just wanted to send my support and say that if I were in her position I would be doing everything I could to get things back to normal and to give you a sort of sense of security. She needs to do this as the ball is in her court so to speak. Whilst a marriage is a partnership, if one of you does something to hurt the other then that person then they have to do everything they can to make it right. If you feel that you have done all you can (which is more than I think I would have done) then, yes - let your wife make the moves now. You need to feel wanted, loved etc and its up to her to make you feel like that. She has some work to do!
Hope I haven't spoken out of turn xxx0
