  • Right guys, you’ve been chasing up a cashback claim since start of March for House of Fraser do you think you might get it sorted before the place closes for good or is this part of the plan?

    Just curious ...

Err, the House of Fraser went bust. I'd write that one off if I were you.

Sports Direct only bought the assets and goodwill.

The way TCB work I’d sort of expected that...the funny thing is, it was one of those “special deals” that TCB love to advertise “only 3 days left @10% cashback” sale tracked ok...but at the lower rate so just needed a simple “manual uplift” which they seem to have to do quite often when their advertised “special rates” don’t work.

All the same....since early March until now....typical TCB customer service.

The really puzzling bit is they said it would be manually uplifted...which in the absence of any TCB definition would lead you to believe, if the sale is confirmed, the transaction verified and the lower rate was credited....someone in TCB would push the button...NOT keep coming out with the rubbish “waiting for retailer” tosh.

    Hey everyone,

@ mamabuddah – With the current situation obviously we can never be sure but we will work on this for you to try and claim the cashback for you.

I am afraid even with manual work when this is required, we’re told the purchases that need to be corrected and if your purchase is not included it has to go through the normal query routes to find out why.

Thanks Matt, I know you’ve been “trying” since March and I Know you said it would be “manually uplifted” ...apologies if I misunderstood and took that to mean, the sale/transaction having been confirmed and the amount confirmed it would just take a simple verification of the % cashback promised on the day by TCB and adding the extra %.

I realise this might prove difficult as you sometimes can’t even find details of what you’ve offered yourselves and put the onus on the purchaser to prove with screengrabs etc...so just exactly what is it that TCB have to do?

    Hey everyone,

@mamabuddah - I am afraid that is not quite how it works, the retailer tells us which purchases should get an increased rate normally especially when there are different cashback categories for the same retailer.

I appreciate being asked for a screenshot can be annoying and we do try and avoid this where we can. We do have a record of all the offers we publish on the site as you would expect from us and we will use this as much as we can.

I can't rule out human error sometimes if we say we can't locate a rate because as humans this is possible but we will do our best to eliminate this wherever we can.

If you'd like me to look into this I can do that for you through email but I can only really give hypothetical replies here as I don't know the specific details or your account.

    Best wishes,
    Matt

  • Has anyone else been hit by the recent topcashback fiasco? I make a lot of booking.com bookings for trips.. I rarely get paid the larger amounts by topcashback but don’t really have time to keep up with what actually went through and what didn’t. Coming to think of it, I rarely get paid anything from Booking.com.

Due to some glitch that happened, I got paid a bunch of cashback from Booking.com.. I assumed that this was from all the bookings that I made that I did not get paid for so I took the money out and put it in my account and have since spent it as it was in July.

I went to withdraw my £8.50 cashback last week and I have been told that I have to “pay back” over £100 of cashback because of their mistake. They said they would be taking all of my current pay outs, and had put a hold on all my pending ones too until this total was paid back.

I am beyond furious and leaving them.
  • In an attempt to use Monsoon for her cashback, a message appeared that my wife had to use chrome in order to qualify for cashback. She was using chrome but no matter how many times she attempted to make my purchase, the same message appeared. Now it’s happening with the Debenhams website too. Any ideas?
