Despite the TV adverts and my trying to explain it, there are still people I know who think cashback is hard work or a scam, I try telling them they are burning money!

Take house insurance, last year went with Esure as best 'fit' of price and cover = £135, they paid out £50.50 cashback no problem. £84 for full house and contents with all the extras.

Renewal comes in this year asking for £155! So switch to Sheilas wheels for same cover £138, and £50.50 cashback has already tracked overnight so will be £87 this year. Sheilas wheels are another part of Esure!

People (perhaps rightly) have become too wary these days, why would someone give you £50 off your insurance? it must be a scam or dodgy they say.

I know this is not really a Topcashback 'problem' but how do you persuade people to give it a go?

-- I know people have tracking issues, I used to a lot, I do any preliminary quotes and research and so on one computer, then when I am sure I want to buy something I use our other laptop that has not, I close all browsers and open a fresh Internet Explorer (works best for me on TCB) go via TCB to the site, do the deal direct and then exit everything carefully. 99% success rate for me these days --

    Hi sillygoose,

I hope that you had a great weekend and are looking forward to this heat wave that we are meant to be having :)

There will always be people who will think that this is a scam, free money is not a common thing these days but hopefully, our advert with our real members and also, seeing friends and family earn cashback will help people to see that we are here to help get the commission back on those everyday purchases such as insurance, even the groceries.

It sounds like you have made some excellent savings so far and I hope that you keep it up, we are always here to help with any questions though!

    All the best,
    Samantha

The problem with the tv ads is they're totally unbalanced and appear to be 'too good to be true'. Not a single issue and one 'real member' stating 'no dramas'. We all know that's not true and many members have had major problems with tcb and some even having to take action through the Small Claims Court! When you see ads like that, it makes you think, "What is the catch?" and rightly so. If you've been a 'victim' of declined cashback for genuine purchases, or have even heard about the issues, then you may well be wary and rightly so.
As a family, we have earned well over £7k and a lot through insurances as you state. Many, many problems though with transactions taken via tcb (unlike the ads) and I've had to contact the merchants and then follow it through the Financial Ombudsman quite a few times. All resolved and paid, but I had to do the work myself. Tcb stance is that they haven't been paid, so can't pay me. But, why are they allowing dodgy merchants to continually delay payments of over 6 months? Some even over one year, like the unscrupulous Direct Line for example.
Imutual took Direct Line off their site to protect it's members from becoming victims, like myself. Tcb refuse and continue to protect Direct Line and would rather put it's members at financial risk. Not everyone is savvy enough or has the time and patience to take on the abusers of affiliate marketing.
So, although cashback sites are good and indeed, you could be burning money, you could infact burn your own fingers. That's until cashback is guaranteed for genuine purchases.
So, if you want to try out the cashback world, perhaps using a cashback site who offers a guarantee (on most merchants) would be the best way to try it out? That seems reasonable and logical.
Perhaps have a look at imutual's guarantee?
    http://www.imutual.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=46426

Not only the guarantee, but even better rates too (without higher cashback guarantee gimmicks that some may miss out on), just honest rates.
    http://www.imutual.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=27685

I do use imutual along with Quidco and of course tcb. Mostly tcb for financial merchants as I'm confident I'll get my cash one way or other. I generally chase up at four months is cashback hasn't been paid (mis-selling of a financial product).

But, yes, cashback sites can work, for some anyway. Just be careful and take no nonsense. If you have a doubt, try out the guaranteed sites, at least initially anyway.
No payments from financial products from cash back sites? Put in a complaint direct and if they don't resolve your issue, head straight to the financial ombudsman - it costs the company £550 in referral fees, win or lose.

I've had my issues with TCB but it certainly isn't a scam however i do still question if they pocket some cashback too as far too many declines have happened for them to be legit, but i guess it's a chance you take and when i see people mentioning cashback deals i always remind them to never trust cashback completely and contact the company direct as you can get a much better deal for example awhile ago tcb were offering £150 cashback for BT, my cousin phoned BT got 6 months free broadband and tv, £150 Sainsburys voucher and £75 bill credit, also goy activation and delivery charges waived too.
In my experience nowadays it is better not using cashback sites especially TCB and contacting the company direct.

    Hi there,

Thanks for joining in and providing some different views here.

@B_M, the majority of our members do have a really good cashback experience with us but as with any cashback site, there will be times when this may not go as expected, in these instances though we do act and aim to get any expected cashback progressing as it should on a members account, whether this be through our claims system or by supporting our members on a ticket. I know I have said this before and that it easier to say than do, but we do ask that members only make the purchases that they need to and view the cashback as a bonus as this is something that cannot be guaranteed.

@legendkiller2k8, that is interesting to hear and thanks for sharing, hopefully we are able to provide the best cashback rates, especially having our highest cashback guarantee claim option, for when you may not be able to get these deals direct. Declines can occur I'm afraid but please do let me reassure you that at no point do we pocket any cashback, the cashback for a declined transaction does not get passed on to us and any cashback we do receive, 100% of this goes directly to our members.

I hope that you both go on to enjoy the sun this week :)

    Best wishes,
    Samantha

    mobiles.co.uk - DO NOT USE !!!....

Ordered an iPhone for my daughter, 30 pound tracked then suddenly disappeared.? Lodged a claim and after some time got the following. ..

"After looking into your claim further for you, I am sorry to tell you that your claim has been declined as the network has not identified ourselves as the last referral to the merchant’s site and this transaction."

This is completely false. .....TCB was the ONLY site used and furthermore all cookies were cleared before my order was placed. !!!

Maybe the majority of your members do have a really good experience, but it's well known of issues, some major issues and that's not reflected in your tv ads (obviously). So, it's totally unbalanced and to find out about the issues, you need to read forums, such as this, to get a more balanced look.
Tell it as it is and then you can't be accused of trying to 'hoodwink' potential new members. I stopped referring friends colleagues to tcb a long time ago, due to complaints I was receiving for recommending tcb. lol

Yes, tcb want you to think along the lines that cashback is only a 'possibility', though Ombudsmen, especially financial ones, disagree (for genuine purchases). Who's advise do you think is the best to follow?
But, cashback can be guaranteed by at least one site, for most genuine transactions. So, it's logical to use that site, isn't it? If the risk can be taken away, take away the risk.

re mobiles.co.uk, incidentally guaranteed cashback at imutual-
    http://www.imutual.co.uk/mobiles-uk
    (take away the risk)

The CPW CEO office is very good at resolving complaints. I've contacted them a few times (not all for declined cashback from cashback sites). Compensation of £30 easily achievable to stop you going on to OFCOM. Waste of time complaining at the bottom end though, just go straight to the top.

    Hi Everyone,

It's great that this lovely weather is continuing for us :)

@John_G66 – I am sorry if this did get declined for this reason. I do understand your frustration when you believe you had done everything correctly. The issue however, is that the cashback network would have reason to believe we were not the last referrer. Therefore the merchant would have paid this cashback - but to the people they believe were the last referrer. There can be many things that cause another referrer to be credited, but this is normally because for some reason the cookies on your device told the merchant’s cashback network that this last referee was not us.

@Legendkiller2k8 – Thank you for your contribution to this thread. If you do have any specific issues with any of these merchants please do let us know as we will be more than happy to look into this for you..

@Ublooney - We did have a glitch earlier on site I am afraid. This could have been caused by the world adding an extra second to yesterday and so may have caused our technology to get slightly confused. Our Tech Team did work to resolve this very soon.

@B_M – Thanks for your views on this subject. I do understand your point of view but we will always be very clear to our new members in explaining that cashback cannot be guaranteed. This is explained in the terms and conditions, on every merchant page and also in our help section. As explained before, our business prides itself on offering over 100% cashback to our members. Other cashback sites especially when they say cashback is guaranteed are not always able to offer the full amount of cashback they receive to balance the costs. If they do, this is a decision taken solely by them. For ourselves however, we firmly believe that we offer a great deal for our members and do pride ourselves on the offers we are able to provide to all of our members and as explained previously the vast majority of transactions do progress as we would hope and expect.

    Best wishes,

    Matt
